I've spent much time recently thinking & writing about AI governance. From an antitrust perspective, partnerships between AI firms & Big Tech players force us to rethink the merits of collaborative market structures. @OlaWierzbick & I wrote on this: (1/2)

Is there space for computational tools in highly politicized antitrust jurisdictions? Can the EU learn from China, given its novelorientation towards competitiveness and industrial policy? These are some of the issues we covered in our rewarding conversation with @AngelaZhangHK
.@groza_teodora and I had a great conversation with @AngelaZhangHK about Chinese (computational) antitrust. I learned a ton. Hope you'll enjoy it. #computationalantitrust ➝ ➝ ➝

We've been dealing with the question of how—and if—innovation can be measured for a long time. @ProfSchrepel & I ask the next one in line: can innovation be computed? The short answer is, yes, it can. For the long answer, check out our paper ⬇️
.@Groza_Teodora and I have a new working paper titled Computing ‘Innovation Competition’ In it, we explore how agencies and counsels can give innovation a greater, more consistent role in antitrust by leveraging computational tools. We begin by tracing the concept of ‘innovation competition’ through the literature, then delve into the case law (both E.U. and U.S.), and conclude with numerous examples of how #computationalantitrust is advancing the recognition of innovation competition. Comments welcome!

Thanks to @HanspachPhilip, antitrust lawyers now have a go-to paper for getting their feet wet with Machine Learning. If you're already familiar with the economics toolkit, it's time to take it to the next level :) @CodeXStanford #computationalantitrust
An absolute must-read we just published on what lawyers need to know about the use of machine learning in competition economics. Authored by @HanspachPhilip #computationalantitrust @CodeXStanford
