So this is what the Hydroturf looks like now. (1st pic from yesterday afternoon)A base of Crushed stone then turf then quuckcrete binder followed by crumb rubber then water for cement. Still to backfill side trench and touch up rubber
Someone sent me a screenshot of right after I gave Brooks Koepka the flag from

for his 4th major. He was pretty cool and patient (after 15 previous group pics) and we got a great crew photo.
@VoixdeDelphine
and intern Tom McDaniel in there too! Great week from a great crew!
Poor little fox was stuck in a main valve riser. Cover had been dislodged. We were able to get it out with a paper picker. It scampered away fairly quick once freed. New cover on riser. 🦊🦊 thanks to the golfer who called it in👍
Crew out mowing greens and prepping bunkers. This is from back left grandstands behind 17 green. You can see 17,16 and 1 greens and turn around for closeup view of 18 tee

. The cross bunker is getting its first major renovation since 1997. Lower left fwy bunker will also undergo renovation. Plus new irrigation for the fwy/rough. Great to have talent in house to get this major work done
We have three courses open. A lot of supers asking what we are doing tomorrow. As of now we are still open. For a week now Reduced crew, reduced hours, staggering shift start times, rotating days off. No riding together etc. That's now. Could change later today.
If you’re playing our blue course, off

you may have seen the new wash pad for the equipment barn built this season. It’s a closed loop wash pad so we are reusing our water saving tens of thousands of gallons H2O. Troubleshooting along the way but working well
Greens are getting a big roll today. Plus bunker & divot party. Our first full day closed. Have myself on bunker rake collection duties. Good way to scout our nearly 8 acres of sand.

chatting with one of our golfers who was under the impression we did not mow Green greens today. Told him our mower starts at 4:30(5:45 first tee) & dew can reform. It happens sometimes. Pleasant enough 🏌️♂️, he was fine w explanation. A lot of people aren’t up that early.
While

we have two great horned owl chicks on the Black. These two are a few weeks old. Photos by crew member Jim Jones
Working on 1 Red today. Process is pick up mess left by tent crew then seed aerate drag fert H2O and 🤞the seed will germinate in a week and we're on our way in a month. Will be chasing these areaa the rest of the season
“Magna Cart” debut. We are spending a lot of time cleaning up after contractors during restoration. Installed a magnet sweeper under a “Magana” cart to help pick up all the screws, nails etc. last picture is 1 fwy Green this am. Lots of work to do
Good to work better day to play. Crew on 4 Black adding Broomsedge plants to newly added fingers. Irrigation renovation 4 as well plus a look at not nearly finished lower fwy bunker. Also renovating bunker on 3 Blue w some 🏌️♂️🏌️♀️on the ⛳️
Great day to play. 18 Black. 4 Red. 18 Blue. This morning we reversed 18 holers on blue and yellow so early a.m. 9 holers get to play front 9s instead of always back 9. A little variety change
The staff
@StorrTractor
and
@ToroGolf
provided Bethpage fantastic support during the PGA with equipment and expert staff. Thanks
@mjturner329
for coordinating and taking care of us. Over a year of planning with Toro and it paid off in performance when it mattered most.
Nice day but unfortunately closed after another deluge. Standing water all over the courses. Crew getting into dozens of bunker washouts and minor debris blowing/cleanup
For supers thinking about hosting its a 2 hour event after a couple hours planning that First Green website really makes it easy. Landseer gave out coloring books. moisture meters a big hit. made a pass w/ a 648 so they could see grass,roots,soil. Ran a soil infiltration lab too
Back to school, learn, learn, learn!🤓⛳️ We are so excited to welcome the happiest third graders from Central Boulevard Elementary School with

With some high pruning we were able to improve the look of 4 Red this winter. Golf balls will be much more visible as they fall short into the bunker🏌️♂️🏌🏻♀️⛳️

walkpath. We're making the paths wider. Shelling out old material, new mix, irrigation then sod when it's back above freezing. Paths and tree work keeping crew busy.
Solid frost this morning but w 7:00 first tee we’re fine. A little later great to see 14 green Yellow in full sun so early. We did some removal and pruning over winter. That green has struggled in the past.

I was going to take closer pictures of bunkers that were renovated on 7 Red. Stepped out of the truck and the birds are in full chorus. Golf course mornings are all right (most of the time, irrigation system is still off!).
@BirdsofTurf
Foam plugs in cup keeps ball up top. Please leave flagstick in and do not touch flagstick. All bunker rakes and ball washers are being removed as well.
Crew really getting after it today on Black. Hydrojecting greens. New irrigation around 6 fwy bunker. Drainage near 5 fwy bunker. Excellent work all around
4 Blue Looking excellent. green is near our picnic road and past those trees is route 135. The hum of highway traffic in the distance contrasted by birds singing. 1500 acres of peace in the middle of Long Island
@BethpageGolf
Had a great time yesterday showing
@VoixdeDelphine
students around areas on the Black. We talked about 🦉 🐸 🐝 songbirds and our pro ecology. And a fair share of questions from a few dads about the grass. Almost all the kids said they wanted to try playing ⛳️
Nice view of 5 green Black from 6 rough. Compressor in for blowing out irrigation. Irrigation blowout takes a few days. One of the “what do you guys do in winter” tasks. Blue/Yellow open for ⛳️
Another “what do we do in the winter?” update. Conditions allowing us to put down sod today. Some tree work as well. Sun up over the Blue Course which opens at 10 today once it warms up a bit ⛳️
Spent the morning on the Yellow as we’re lean on crew. 2nd pic is 7 Yellow and then mowing rye sod 10. Also tree topping red tail hawk. First picture 1 Black. A bit early but 5 years from now 2024

Saw a bald eagle as if released for the moment. The punchbowl is awesome. Bandon a must for every golfer
1 tee Yellow was under decking during PGA. Using restoration to improve the area. The new tee is over 4000sq’ so 50% larger. Rye for tee top. Big roll TF for surround. Forward tees will play off the pro range tee like they are now. This tee will open in 3-4 weeks 🏌️♂️🏌️♀️⛳️
Nice cool morning for turf. Waiting for a crew member and this fox trotted past with breakfast. There were two kits that scampered past a minute earlier. ⛳️
About 6 or 7 winters ago while walking through high rough I felt something unfamiliar underfoot. Found this gem from Royal St George's. Fantastic logo. Good luck to

Starting a few Fall projects. This is 7 tee Green. The soil was terrible and grading was off. Tee would be half muddy and half wilted. Regrade, new mix, sod and irrigation.
Going to be a lot of down trees on turf twitter tomorrow. We are pretty trashed. Went down to 8 Black little while ago. That tree still standing. Plus two golfers putting ...😂. Sporting guy I am I have them a ride in
