Thank you everyone who has sent kind messages about the loss of Tim. It’s devastating to lose a friend and colleague of 50+ years. Fun, sociable and adorably silly, Tim was a class act. Our thoughts are with his family.
In 2013 on The Infinite Monkey Cage David Spiegelhalter and I were asked what was the greatest threat to humanity. I suggested a flu-like pandemic, he said an Energy Crisis. I’d call that a 1-all draw…so far.
The laughter isn't canned, it's the genuine response of a live audience. However we could persuade those taking part not to say anything funny if you think that would enhance your father-in-law's enjoyment of the show.
Iain was a wonderful writer. He was fiercely devoted to the rules of grammar and the mechanics of humour, which made whatever he wrote so elegant and funny. We will miss him for his words and his company.
No BBCTV plans to honour Tim or to mark the Goodies 50th anniversary. The Radio Times and BFI had planned a joint event to mark the 50th with the three of us on stage at the NFT, now cancelled of course.

Back in the day I think it was Barry Cryer in the bar of a Northern Club during the interval who overheard two lugubrious Yorkshiremen.
A: What did you thiink to the Comic?
B: He were all right. If you like laughing.

I don’t think the laughter obscured the contestants voices, it wasn’t meant to be a critique of the production. He just incorrectly assumed that the laughter was artificial for some reason. I told him at the time that it was real - he’s all good now, but thanks for your concern!
@NoContextBrits
It’s amusing how many celebs have come right back with a ‘thank you’ to the folk who nominated them, as if they have trawled through the long list looking for their own name. And I’ve read all of them.
The Goodies Movie. A documentary that will be a must for all history scholars studying the 1970s. Register your interest and keep up to date with all the fantastic perks and merchandise that are being offered as part of the crowdfunding campaign.
In 1914 the 7th Infantry Division of the French Army was transported from Paris to the Battle of the Marne by taxis. Surely Trump could grab a brolly and hail a cab.
It's incredible that a president would travel to France for this significant anniversary - and then remain in his hotel room watching TV rather than pay in person his respects to the Americans who gave their lives in France for the victory gained 100 years ago tomorrow
The highest rated sitcom repeat on BBC1 last week, was a 47 year old episode of Dad's Army from 1973 with nearly 4m. Interesting eh? Maybe a few repeats of sitcoms made before 2000 would do well over the Summer? You never know.
I'm reasonably certain a dolphin has scored higher on this test than this guy. And he's stupid enough to be proud of it. Actually, that should be part of the test. If you think any part of it was tough you're an idiot.
This is advice from a right wing think tank, not yet government policy. But.
@EquityUK
: if these were actors in UK, what proportion would be allowed to stay? I’d guess 20% tops. Figures like this disbar the huge majority of artists, and not for artistic reasons
Thanks to everyone who came to the Birthday Bash at Chipping Norton Theatre last night, and special thanks to everyone who took part and sent messages. It was a marvellous evening for me and my family.
Yesterday was a BIG day for Justice in the USA. Congratulations to General Flynn, and many others. I do believe there is MUCH more to come! Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians do not go well together!

It was a reference to Alvin Stardust, a popular crooner of the time, who wore leather gloves and used to point at the camera. If you're old enough to remember Seamus Android you're surely old enough to remember Alvin.
Izzy, the photos of us on the trandem come from the Camelot episode, 1973, shot arounf Bodiam Castle. We made Snow White 2 in 1981 at Arundel Castle and that may well be one of our jousting lances.

Hi can you confirm that this was filmed at Arundel Castle? I am a gardener there and I have your joust pole which has been on the wall in the potting shed since the year I was born! Legend has it that it was yours from filming here :-D Here it is. I’m going to restore it. 😆
@GraemeGarden1
BBC TV is in a fair state of chaos at the moment as very little is getting made due to lockdown and the finances are being cut. I suspect anything will emerge around Christmas. Radio 4 did a 30 minute tribute though, and there aren't that many people who would get that
Home schooling........ the boy is listening to I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again whilst reading Bram Stoker's Dracula. That has to be an odd combination? Thoughts
@GraemeGarden1
? PS he's 12.
A fascinating and jolly evening spent listening to three Talking Antiques, chaired by A Little Bit Of Nonsense. Serrell, Ross, Hanson and Trevanion on fine form.
