Ever get tired of feeling like you're always the one to reach out to friends? Do I just stop and see if they actually want to maintain communication? Am I just pestering them? They always *seem* happy to hear from me, but then I'll hear nothing until I decide to reach out again.
My hands are shaking after reading this. The email came several weeks ago saying this was supposed to happen, but I still didn't believe it was actually going to go through. I know a lot of people have strong opinions about this, but it is a huge blessing to our family right now.
This is getting ridiculous. It's okay to be happy about stuff even if the world is burning! You know why? Because it is ALWAYS burning somewhere and if you don't celebrate any bit of joy you happen to find or enjoy moments of silliness, then you will burn right up with it.
Another rock I found that I thought was cool. I called 9 over to show her and she says, "What? it's just a rock." Please tell me this does not look like "just a rock."
I've never worn hats other than baseball caps because I always thought I looked weird in them. But I actually liked this hat & decided to wear it today. Was kind of bummed I didn't get a single compliment, but maybe I was right that I'm just not a hat person?
Please wish me luck. Today is our first day of school, and I'll be teaching 1st, 4th, 6th, and 10th grades including my kid with several learning disabilities. Here's hoping for a decent year!
Little guy is on his feet! Still very unstable (watch til the end) but great progress today. Now he just needs a name. This year all kids' names will start with the letter J.
You should have seen my stylist's face when I told her to cut it all off. She asked me several times if I was sure I wanted to go this short. It was a huge change, but it feels so good!
Ok, I know I already posted her doodles earlier and I hate to spam everyone with my daughter's art, but she just tried out the wood burning kit I got her for Xmas and this was the result and I was just 😲
A friend once drank a soda that had been sitting on the counter and swallowed a spider which bit the inside of her throat. I now pour every soda out into a glass before drinking it and will do so forever.
Rejection on a full just hit the inbox. I think this one hurt more than any of the others because of the feedback that came with it. May need an extra glass of wine tonight.

Anyone else ever feel cheated when you hear what great sibling relationships other people have? Like, I'm truly happy for you guys, but why did mine have to suck?
Hubs' face is just blowing up from the shingles. It's reached his eyelid now. He's seeing the opthalmologist today, but I would appreciate any prayers or good vibes. He's really worried about losing vision in that eye.
And now we have surprise bunnies of course. 5 little fluff balls came hopping up out of a tiny hole in the floor of the rabbit pen this evening.
*Sorry for the terrible pic, but it was dark in the barn.

There's even the zoo episode where Moomin Papa gets mad at the people for calling them hippos. "We look nothing like hippos!" 😂 One of our favorite episodes!
Daughter let me look at some of her sketches from today, and I'm just blown away as usual.
She's been writing a fantasy series, but I've put the bug in her ear that she should try making a graphic novel.
Any opinions?
Oh, and I found another "moon" for

I had no idea how relatable this was. Thank you to all that have responded with encouragement or well meaning advice. It makes me happy to see so many conversations spring up from this.
When everyone complains about all the negativity on here, I feel lucky. Not sure what the difference is, but I feel like my feed is usually full of awesome, creative, and supportive people.
So if someone hasn't told you, I appreciate you for making this a place I want to be.
It only took 6 years but my youngest finally understands the concept of yesterday, today, and tomorrow! For years she's been constantly asking me "Is it today?" to which I've replied each and every time, "Yes, it's always today."
🔥I HAVE NEWS!!!🔥
I never seriously believed I'd be saying this, but I'm thrilled to announce that I'm officially repped by the awesome

I'm at the kids library and a mom with a 3-4yo just started singing baby shark with no prompting from the kid. The MOM. Why on Earth would she do that???
Me: picks up "new" home phone I just hooked up.
Kids: why's it making that noise?
Me: That's the dial tone.
Kids: *stare blankly*
Me: That's how you know it's working.
8yo: *laughs* wait, you're serious?
The rain outside is fitting because this is a terribly sad day indeed. Our Calcifer passed away. He was the sweetest cat I've ever had and will be so dearly missed by our family and especially by his brother.
Sorry for spamming everyone with baby goats but look at these cuties! Ophelia's kids are doing well. Names are for sure yet, but we're thinking maybe Juno & Jupiter.
I won't be pitching in

this time since I'm now agented, but I'm happy to support my fellow writers with comments and QTs on their awesome pitches. If you'd like to be added, comment below with either a gif that reminds you of your MS or a fav line.
Good luck!
If someone shows you a drawing/photograph/painting/piece of writing and you think it's good, but you think you know how it could be changed to make it great or how they could improve their technique, do you tell them or just give them a nice compliment?
Our kids are about to watch Labyrinth for the first time. So far they've enjoyed The Neverending Story, Willow, and The Princess Bride. Who wants to wager if this is going to be a hit or a miss?
For those asking, yes, she can do commissions. She's 15, so she's always happy to find a little paid work to do. You can see some of her other art at
Please DM me about commissions. I'm her go between b/c there are too many creeps out here.
I noticed that the 14yo has been hanging around while I'm putting her little sisters to bed and reading to them. I finally asked her about it and she said, "I like listening to you read. You do a really good job with all the voices and accents."
That pretty much made my day.
