Sorry it's the best I could do with a B.A. in Bible from Wheaton College, a master's degree and doctorate from the nation's largest evangelical seminary, experience as an adjunct seminary professor, and three decades of experience as a pastor.

Upon leaving faith I felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders—a result of: •No longer presuming to hear the voice of God •Resigning from the defense team for a silent God •Ending the mental gymnastics required by faith •Accepting how much I do not know

We now have a front-row seat to multiple real-time examples of how believing that God is leading you can cripple one's ability to perceive reality as we watch evangelicals deny climate change, the seriousness of COVID-19, and the results of a free and fair presidential election.

The Christian God created atoms, stars and galaxies but could not manage to make it possible for 1 full, original copy of his self-revealing book containing the world's most important message to be available to more than 107 billion of the 108 billion humans who have ever lived.

If you’re a believer, and you want to say that my leaving Christianity means I never was a Christian, then you must logically conclude that no matter how real your faith seems to you now, you too may be a fake Christian, but it may take you another 20 or 30 years to find out.

We now have a front row seat to observe what faith can and cannot do. Arkansas church meets anyway--34 people get COVID-19 and one is already dead. Faith can encourage, raise money, and offer community support, but it doesn't stop the virus. #exchristian

Then—I viewed Chris Hitchens with disdain. Now—What a brilliant and articulate man! Then—Bertrand Russell was the boogey man. Now—Love his 10 Commandments. Then—Recoiled at Lennon singing “Imagine there’s no heaven.” Now—“Imagine all the people living for today.” #exChristian

As a minister, my goal was to convert any non-Christian I met. I was effective at winning others through persuasive sermons & relationships. My behavior was accepted as normal. Now, my sharing nonbelief is seen as negative, even hostile. But I'm a communicator. It's in my DNA.

#exChristian The Gospel of John is one of the clearest and best examples of how the Jesus story gets better with each passing decade after his death. What’s In John’s Gospel But Not in Matthew, Mark, or Luke? Referring to Jesus, the Gospel of John opens with, “In the beginning

I don’t comprehend real Christianity because I don't understand it like you do? Maybe, but if my five decades of Bible study failed to reveal true Christianity, then… God has set the bar too high or is a poor communicator or DOESN’T EXIST. #exChristian #eXvangelical

Today is a good day to remember Jesus taught that hand-washing is unimportant & believed many illnesses are caused by demons. Either God thought it would be fun for humans to take almost 2000 more years to learn about germs, or Jesus was a human prophet who didn't have a clue.

Interesting. Jesus isn't the same in the Gospels of Mark and John.

#exChristian #GoodCleanFun If archeologists found a complete first century manuscript of the Gospel of John — older than any existing copy — and it included a sentence stating, “Jesus loved to ride merry-go-rounds,” within hours, Christian apologists would be announcing reasons

If humans have a soul operating in tandem with the brain, why doesn't it kick in like a backup drive when someone gets Alzheimer's Disease or part of the brain is damaged? Simple Answer: Your brain is you, and when your brain is gone, you're gone. Don't despair. Seize the day!

God promised Abraham his descendants would be as "numerous as the stars" (Genesis 22:17 NIV). There are more than 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars. About 100,000,000,000 people have lived on Earth. At least 99,999,999,999,900,000,000,000 more descendants are needed.
