When I was giving my 1st steps in bioinformatics (undergrad) I sent emails to world leading researchers asking for trivial stuff and.. they answered! Many years later I understand how kind they were to answer. Always take time to help younger people, it means so much to them 🙏🏽🌟

Wow, Nature! One thing is to charge 11k dollars for open access... But asking why there are no authors from the global south in open access papers is a bit evil. Maybe because 11k is the entire annual budget for many groups and then it becomes impossible to pay for it!

in 2008 I remember to be waiting for weeks until getting an homology model from the I-Tasser server. Now I'm running hundreds of AlphaFold2 models in batch & they take each less than 1 hour to be ready!!! Progress in science exceeds science fiction movies!!

Critical to understand this. Specially when global south early career researchers wanna apply to international funding. One middle tier paper is a great odisey to publish. Not only because of money but also because of biases during revision towards lastnames, institutions, etc
Most scientists from the Global South are not able to afford Open Access (OA). An OA article can equal 3 or 4 of our monthly salaries or the full yearly amount of one of our grants. This discriminatory situation creates a double-standard in science dissemination.

After a long time without talking after my coming out, my father told me that he is proud of me & that he loves me the way I am. I'm a very strong person. & I think I was ok living without his acceptance..still it made me cry like a child.Tell your kids u love them, they need it

Did you know that NMR structures "determination" is assisted by computational techniques as Simulating Annealing??? So, it seems determination is not so determined anymore..(? Epistemologically speaking, nothing is determined and everything is a model!
