Ich habe lange genau dies über mich gedacht. Was die Sache geändert hat, war nicht eine verbesserte Rhetorik, sondern schlicht eine (feste) Stelle, mit der ich plötzlich sprachlich Autorität zu haben schien. - Materielle Bedingungen wirken sich mehr aus, als ich damals dachte.

Schaut in die Niederlande! Es ist zwar auch nicht alles Gold, was glänzt, aber hier entfristet man assistant professors bereits nach 12-18 Monaten und schafft so einen starken Mittelbau. Ich verstehe nicht, warum man das in Deutschland nicht hinbekommt.

Nach Magister (1996) und Promotion (2001) habe ich geglaubt, man wolle die Habil abschaffen.
Erst nach Postdoc in Cambridge habe ich doch noch habilitiert (2009) und mit 41 Jahren einen Ruf (2012) erhalten, ins Ausland...
Ich habe sieben Jahre gebraucht, nicht fünf.
Nach Magister (1991) und Promotion (1993) habe ich einige Zeit benötigt, um ein Habilitationsthema zu finden. An der "Liebe als Roman" habe ich dann ein paar Jahre gearbeitet, schließlich eingereicht, 2000 habe ich mich habilitiert.

Last Monday, I taught my last class at this wonderful faculty.

I wish university philosophy programs would bring back subjects where you spend a semester on a single important book. Imagine studying The Phenomenology of Spirit or Critique of Pure Reason for six months in third year.
