Please don’t renew in 2027. Those lit up billboards are a blight on the city scape. Paying for the bikes would be a better investment.
Dublin City Council agreed to remove two trees near an advertising display on Cork Street after JC Decaux repeatedly complained about them. The council has been under sustained pressure from the company to ensure its billboards are not blocked.

@LarryPDonnelly Larry, you have been stand out in measured, truthful commentary and insight. At the end of the day, that serves both the US and the Dems better than the usual approach.

I’d say at least two out of the four politicians see the inside of a church far more often than I do. Sad to see that they are so churchophobic that they can’t bring themselves to say “ thoughts and prayers”. Prayers are not specific to any faith but millions of us in Ireland still say a quiet prayer in the face of violence and evil.

Listening to @ThomasByrneTD on RTE. Any EU country that clings to a collective approach to the US without having a fully worked up bilateral plan is in serious trouble. The big EU countries will be doing just that. Our particular situation makes us vulnerable on both sides. Hope there’s a sense of urgency and crisis around this. Ignore the news cycle and get on top of it.

Our national self abasement doesn’t seem to have a limit. If you don’t believe in your own country and people, don’t expect any respect from the rest of the world. I don’t know what happened or what we’re at. #Eurosong2025 #Eurovision #Ireland

Appoint the most competent women or men. Appoint for the sake of the country, not for the sake of gender balance.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin is set to announce the Government’s 11 nominees to the Seanad, and he has indicated that he will be aiming to appoint several women for the sake of gender balance:

@PatrickGiobuin Bit scary tbh. Personalities matter in this instance and it’s hard to see a fit on any level.

We’re going to read so many crap pieces like this across the media. Just an indication of how indoctrinated they are. They just don’t get it. Gender theory is not accepted and is about as real as magic in most people’s eyes. The big No is spreading and there’s no going back. Biological reality will always prevail. But not in time for too many young kids. If this was the only thing @elonmusk and @POTUS achieved, it would be enough.
Analysis | The US president said he would "not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes", after falsely classifying female Olympic boxer Imane Khelif as a trans woman

Becoming clearer every day that at least half the Dail see their purpose as the greater global good. Lovely for them. The warm fuzzy glow of being the kind people. Someone will have to make the hard, nauseating choices that serve and protect the people in this country. Hopefully that someone exists.

@Michael08483429 I don’t know how anything was going to change without a serious disruption. It has ever been so.

We had it all. Just waiting to bear fruit. Then we forced tech talent out of the country. Now our best minds build their companies in other jurisdictions and we’re vulnerable to Fang companies who will ultimately have to do what’s best for them. We watched Irish leadership degenerate into the mindset of provincial leaders in an ever overreaching EU. We lauded them. I think the last person I can remember being seriously ambitious for Ireland was Haughey. With all his flaws, he at least had some vision for the country. We only had to grasp what tech could mean for Ireland and back it. It didn’t have to be an either or with FDI. We just had to grow our own alongside and recognise the talent battle they faced, and make it easier. Ireland is led by the average and the fearful. The place holders. Our own fault.
Ireland is a tax haven - unless you’re an Irish entrepreneur- 52% income tax, extra PRSI for self employed, highest CGT compared to neighbours, medieval taxes on stock options
