My lovely Mum, already in hospital, has now contracted Coronavirus. I feel numb, upset, worried, helpless and angry all at the same time. If you have any faith or none please can you hold her in your thoughts and/or prayers x
I don’t share this lightly but two years ago today this is how I said goodbye to my Mum. We stuck to the rules. Boris Johnson broke the rules he wrote. We aren’t moving on or forgetting. He’s got to go. But thank god for Julie x
Baffles me that young men look up to the likes of Andrew Tate when there are brilliant role models of healthy, non-toxic masculinity like Adam Peaty about.

For context Gareth was my late brother who died aged 25 in 1998. No parent should bury a child but she dealt with it with immense dignity - the pain never went away though and was only really was softened by having the Grandchildren she adored.
So let me get this right if you need social care and live in a million pound house in London you can expect to keep 900k but if you’ve got an 80k terrace in Stoke on Trent you’re family get nothing?!
On reflection I thought Starmer was brilliant yesterday. Being the Opposition Leader is a hard and thankless task at the best of times but especially against a PM with no shame. The anger in his voice was palpable and spoke for 170k families like mine.
I’m 44 and I’ve seen a lot but honestly I’ve never felt as political as I do today. Although a Labour member for most of the last 26 years I’ve never been especially tribal. I have Tory friends. But it’s now an honour thing. The country deserves far better than Boris Johnson.

read my last text messsge to my Mum and replied to tell me that she had. And my Dads. And was holding her hand when she died an hour later. That brings me such comfort. I’ll be forever grateful Julie. X
We’re just ten years since the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony where we finally seemed comfortable in our own skin and outward looking to the world. How far we’ve fallen.
Johnson looks almost certain to get at least one more lockdown fine - PMQs on Wednesday looks massive for Starmer - and I absolutely have faith in him.
5 years ago today I met a man in a bar. I wanted to tell him I loved him that night but managed to wait to date 4. Covid cancelled the first attempt but today I will get to call this awesome man my husband.
Credit to Starmer for getting Johnson to deny there were any parties and that all rules were followed in the House of Commons. He misled Parliament and ANY previous PM would have resigned.
To my shame I didn’t vote for Yvette Cooper for Labour leader as I didn’t think she was ready. But boy has she spent 2 and a half years proving me wrong from the back benches. We missed a massive trick not electing her.
Can you remember furore over wether Sue Gray had consulted ACOBA before accepting job offer from Labour? What’s the betting the same people are silent on this…
Boris Johnson Johnson breaks ministerial code over new Mail job - BBC News
I’ll not be voting Labour in the Euro elections but won’t be told that I’m enabling a Brexit party victory. Farage is a dickhead - I don’t want a racist Leave party to win but that’s also why I can’t support Corbyn. The Labour Party left me and I’ll be voting for a Remain party.
Today a woman who turns 95 on Tuesday will sit alone at the funeral of her husband of 73 years. You don’t have to be a supporter of the monarchy to have compassion so if you think have anything nice to say best to say nothing at all.

My last point on Eurovision is that it’s insulting to Sam Ryder to label him a fluke. An anomaly yes in terms of UK performance but a very talented artist with the right voice for the right song who put the graft in for months across the continent. Let’s not do him a disservice.
There’s a time and a place to disagree with politics and politicians and I don’t think booing a Prime Minister - of any party - as they lay flowers for 3 young girls lost in a knife attack is appropriate.
I get America is worried that a man in his 80s can’t remember being Vice President 8 years ago but to be fair in the UK we have a generation of political leaders half his age who can’t recall anything they did in the far more recent Covid lockdown.
Listening to Yvette Cooper this morning and it’s great to have the grown ups back in charge rather than Russian apologists stuck forever in student politics.

I remember the sheer pleasure, as a 19 year old activist, of John Major being crushed in 1997. Now when I hear him as an elder statesman I curse that his successors haven’t got a third of his wisdom or humility.

Did I agree with everything Blair did? No. But I didn’t need to it wasn’t a cult. Did the UK get better after years of underfunding? Yes. Did child poverty get hugely cut? Yes. NHS get more money? Massively. Did Blair leave a huge legacy that it’s right to reward? Damn right.
6 years ago today I came out to my oldest school friend in a pub - he hugged me and told me he loved me and that it changed nothing. His acceptance meant so so much. And then we got very drunk. Love him like a brother.
I grew up in a mining village with all my male relatives (bar my Dad) working down the pit and I’ll tell you now the surviving ones and their families and friends can’t abide Corbyn.

I wanted to tell him I loved him the night we met. I lasted till date 4. My kids adore him. My folks too. We should have married last May and can’t wait to make him my Husband when we can.
I do not need to know what Martha Hancock looks like full stop even less so in distress. She is the innocent party and not the one who stood for public office. Leave the poor woman and her family alone.
Venezuela is a living and breathing example of why I’d be terrified if John McDonnell (or Richard Burgon etc) were in charge of the UK economy. And I am a lifelong Labour supporter.

Liam my Mum died from this horrible disease in hospital on Wednesday. I’m too sad to be bitter or angry but I’m relying on you and your fellow journalists to keep asking the difficult questions, holding the government to account and the public informed.
I spent twenty years in the Labour Party and it was a wretch to leave but I'm not a communist sympathiser. I believe in a a strong national defence and a foreign policy that is pragmatic rather than idealistic I believe in NATO and the EU. I belong in Attlees party not Corbyn's.
So Laura Murray (daughter of Andrew Murray who is Len Mcluskey’s Chief if Staff) moves from Corbyn to Compliance to help Jennie Formby (ex militant and mother of Len’s son) clear the backlog of antisemitism complaints her father has been consulted on. Dodgy as fuck.
Must be odd for the King to be watching this beautiful piece on the amazing power of the Invictus Games - founded by the son he’s not on great terms with.

Interesting that Labour has moved to remove Luciana Berger from the Health Select Committee so soon but have been happy to have Kelvin Hopkins sit on Public Account Committee for 15 months without the Labour whip.
I was really sad the day I realised I could no longer be a Labour Party member under Corbyn but I now I know I can no longer vote Labour and risk him being PM. The greatest force for progressive good this country has ever seen has been hijacked and is now unelectable.
It is with immense sadness that tomorrow I'll be writing to our new General Secretary Jennie Formby to resign my Labour Party membership of 21 years. 1/n
Both my grandfathers were miners, only brothers of both parents were miners, my dad was a baker, a brick maker and a gas man. I’ve just bought a lemon and I can’t believe I’ve rejected their working class heritage.
Just a note on Silly Grandma my eldest christened them both this - there’s a freedom in being a grandparent. My youngest aged 8 still *just about* believes his Silly Grandad is Santa and runs the whole of Xmas from a 2 bed bungalow in Donny. And I’ll be next then him. Cute as.
I miss Gordon Brown, whose analysis is first rate as always, but Labour now has the most talented front bench since he left office and we must unite behind them.
The night I met him I put him he was so confident I in my phone as Cocky Rob. Dates 2 and 3 he showed me his more vulnerable side and on date 4 I told him I loved him. And we’ve never looked back. 💙
Jeremy Corbyn isn’t harmless or a nice man. And the evidence is all out there. The public gave him the benefit of the doubt against the worst GE campaign of my lifetime but he won’t get a 2nd chance like that. He’s ruined the greatest progressive force for good the UK ever saw.
There are 199 Labour MPs that Galloway said he’d go after at the GE. So it’s interesting that he chose its most senior female MP and lifelong trade unionist Angela Rayner.
My 8 year old smashed his best man speech yesterday and then on leaving the restaurant to get picked up by his Mum he mouthed ‘I love you’ at Rob. Not me - Rob. And I bloody love their relationship.
16 kids and one teacher died at Dunblane in 1996. We changed the UK gun laws and we haven’t had a school massacre since. As a parent America absolutely bewilders me.
#RobbElementaryschool
I’m a big fan of Darren Jones. Labour should use him more as he’s one of our best media performers. Depending on how long Starmer stays as leader you’ll see him creeping up the odds for next leader.

I would’ve like to have retired to Spain. Less likely I’d have liked to have worked in Copenhagen. I’d have liked my kids to be able to live, work, study and retire in 27 countries. This is a sad day.
I’ve always liked Huw Edwards. He’s seems to have made some unfortunate but not illegal decisions and Is in somewhat of a state mentally with it all. My thoughts are with him, his wife and kids tonight. And don’t buy the sun.

last night - two titans compared to anyone in Downing St since. I miss the UK being run by grown ups.
I’m in tears here watching Parliament. I know how John Robinsons family feels only too well. This is Anne Mitchell. My Mum and to the kids Silly Grandma. We didn’t get to say goodbye. We stuck to the rules. And the Prime Minister partied.
Hope everyone gets the grades they deserve tomorrow but don’t worry if you don’t - Corbyn got 2 E’s and became a career politician rising to head a cult and destroy the greatest progressive good this country has ever seen.
@Bren4Bassetlaw
I said goodbye to my mum by text. She died without any family with her. We had ten people at her funeral, no wake or party for us. And I couldn’t hug my dad as he cried alone two metres from anyone grieving for his wife of 50 years. We stuck to the rules. Your hero’s a disgrace.
There are 11 former Labour male MPs now sitting as Independents. 10 of them are White. Momentum chose to hold a rally calling for a by-election in the only one held by a Black man with a sign saying ‘Fight Racism, More Blacks’.
Thanks for all the love. It really is appreciated. Some thoughts on my Mum - she has underlying health issues and is 72. But she is fierce. I wouldn’t want her as a mortal enemy. She’s faced health adversity for most of my life with sheer strength, tenacity and good humour. /n
One of the most bewildering myths of the Corbyn era is that he returned the party to its roots. Labour has always chosen the moderate path. I’ll tell you now that Clem Attlee would have had no time for anyone with a hammer and sickle on their Twitter handle.
I'm immensely proud of the difference Attlee, Wilson and Blair made. I'm equally sad that their party had been hijacked by people who'd rather protest than make a difference and that gives antisemitism credibility again sadly. So with huge sadness I'm out. 9/9
