The notion that it is somehow up to the U.S. and Russia to decide the outcome of the Ukraine war tends to dominate the airways. There’s an extent to which this idea is true, obviously. But don’t forget: “It is only Ukrainians that get to decide what is acceptable to them as an outcome of any peace negotiations.” With U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth recently saying that Ukraine returning to its pre-2014 borders is “an unrealistic objective,” and Trump’s phone call with Putin dominating the news, it’s worth remembering who should have the final say. Especially since we’ve been so focused on the issue of our own sovereignty lately. Trudeau gets it.

It is about way more than "PEACE" as was it way more about than "PEACE" in WW2. It is about victory for Ukraine against fascism and only Ukraine can determine what that is and those of us in privileged safe countries who did not lay down our lives should stand up and shut up.
