As always our Stevie was down there to assist, possibly rebranding ourself as the 6th emergency service. Regular updates will follow, hoping for some rooted cuttings. Touch wood.( as they say)
Hardwood cuttings have been taken from the tree by a member of our Botanics team. These will be propagated to create clones with the hope of growing young whips for replanting 🌱 Work to remove broken branches and the long process of restorative care will start soon. (2/2)

This has been a very powerful event as you can see from the experience of our colleagues in Edinburgh. Wishing them all the best in their work over the next few days, weeks and months making the Gardens safe again. In reality it takes years to recover from the.loss of trees.
🚨 We’re sad to announce that #StormÉowyn has caused severe damage across our Gardens. At #Edinburgh, 15 trees have been lost – either uprooted or damaged beyond recovery. This includes the Garden’s tallest tree, the 29-metre Cedrus deodara, planted in 1859 👇

Good afternoon. There are a lot of trees down around @GlasgowBotanic and along the Kelvin Walkway especially near the @GlasgowPenguins. These trees have been reported to @GlasgowCC . Be very careful around fallen trees and watch out for path closures.

There will be a short delay to the opening of the grounds and buildings @GlasgowBotanic tomorrow Saturday 25/1/25 until we can assess any damage to trees, glasshouses and structures. Hopefully we will get updates out as soon as possible

It would be embarrassing to shout about it too much…..about 18 minutes in. A very good interview with the former manager Ewen Donaldson about the Kibble restoration in 2006
Did I just hear Monty Don say the Kibble Palace @GlasgowBotanic was probably the best glasshouse experience in the world!! #MontyDonsBritishGardens. Episode 1
