“I’m very grateful to Girl Up for what they are doing in our school, especially in rural areas. These are schools where you find the girl child’s education is not an easy thing. Many girls drop out before sitting for P.7.” – Teacher Obore David At Girl Up Initiative Uganda, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to complete her education and thrive. Through mentorship, life skills training, and community support, we are breaking barriers and ensuring more girls stay in school   Watch full testimonials from our teachers in Bukedea District on Girl Up’s impact on P.7 National Examinations and see how we are changing lives! #GirlsThrive #EducationForAll #GirlUpImpact

Advancing Gender-Responsive Education Last week, we brought together teachers, school leaders, and education stakeholders for a powerful training on Gender Transformative Pedagogy (GTP) at the Girl Up Office in Kampala. Educators explored: ✔ Practical GTP applications in classrooms ✔ Best practices for gender-responsive teaching ✔ Strategies for sustainable integration in schools This wasn’t just a training—it was a movement. By challenging gender norms and fostering inclusive spaces, we’re not just transforming classrooms; we’re shaping a future where every learner thrives. #GenderTransformativePedagogy #InclusiveEducation #EducationForAll #GirlUpUganda

Why Girls’ Education Must Remain a Priority The latest exam results tell a powerful story—more girls are sitting for exams, yet they continue to face greater challenges in achieving top performance. While they make up a significant portion of Division 2 and the lower divisions, their failure rate remains higher than that of boys. Nevertheless , we celebrate our adolescent girls in the scholarship and mentorship program excelled, passing with Division 1 and 2 results. This success reinforces the importance of investing in girls’ education through scholarships, mentorship, and learning support. Access alone is not enough—ensuring equity in outcomes is where the real work lies. So, what’s next? This week, our team is meeting with scholarship beneficiaries and their guardians to strategize the way forward as we prepare to support them in transitioning to secondary school next month. Every girl deserves the opportunity to thrive. Let’s keep pushing for education that transforms lives! #ScholarshipsMatter #EquityInEducation #GirlsEducation

As the year draws to a close, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to @PlanUganda for eight years of invaluable partnership. From the very beginning, you trusted us as a small, emerging organization and invested significantly in our capacity strengthening and resources. This support enabled us to successfully implement the Niyetu Social Empowerment Program, addressing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for young people (13-25 years) and advocating for Gender-Based Violence prevention. Looking ahead, we reflect with appreciation on these eight years of growth and collaboration with 2 project frameworks and look forward to continuing our shared journey. Thank you for the recognition! In return, we celebrate our shared partnership, built on mutual benefit and collaboration. #Gratitude #Partnership #CapacityBuilding #YouthEmpowerment #SRHR #GBVPrevention #NiyetuProgram #PlanInternationalUganda

As we mark the #16DaysOfActivism, it's crucial to confront the harsh reality that 23% of women and 14% of men have reported experiencing physical violence. This calls for urgent action to create safer homes, communities, and workplaces. If you or someone you know is facing violence, please don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Call our helplines at +256 784 026 844 or +256 741 404 963 to report cases or seek counseling. Together, we can break the cycle of violence and build a world where everyone feels safe and valued.
