Plant of the Week 🌱 Galanthus nivalis (common snowdrop). Feb 6th, 1790 The great titmouse, or sit-ye-down, sings. One crocus is blown-out. Insects abound in the air: bees gather much on the snowdrops, & winter-aconites. Gossamer is seen streaming from the boughs of trees.

Reaching the Falls: Frank Oates' Final expedition 5th February 1875 #OnThisDay Frank Oates died of fever on his way back from Victoria Falls. Earlier that day he and his travelling companions thought he was improving, but later on he took a turn for the worse. He was 34 years old
