Members from GRPD A squad created care packages for the homeless, donations were received from OEM, Mountain View Church, Mountain View Church Bible Study, the De La Rosa, Weaver and Lovell Family. The 21 care packages were made and will be given to GRPD A squad to deliver.
GRPD is assisting GRFD with a large brush fire northwest of SR 87 and SR 187. The fire is still under investigation. Possible disruption in traffic both east and westbound at SR87 @ SR 187 & Gilbert road for requested air attack. 
Meet GRPD’s newest police motorcycle graduates. Ofc. Kennard & Ofc. M. Johnson spent 3 weeks in police motorcycle rider school.
The school consisted of track riding, obstacle courses and city riding. Congratulations Officers on your new assignment.

This week is the beginning of National Police Week. National Police Week is dedicated to remembering those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and honoring those serving our communities for the safety and protection of others.
Chief Chavez and members from the Ranger and Patrol Division, handed out flyers in all elderly complexes today. The flyer contained information for GRPD’s none emergency number and silent witness.

Attached is a news release on a homicide investigation GRPD is currently investigating. No names will be released at this time updates to follow when/if available.
The brush fire has been turned over to the BIA Wildlands crew to handle any hot spots. As of now SR 87 has not been effected and the fire has been extinguished.

Hard road closures in place northbound and southbound State Route 347 at Casa Blanca road for a single vehicle rollover. ADOT is currently setting up detour signs in the City of Maricopa and Casa Blanca Road. No estimated time for reopening. More updates to come when available.
