Asteroid Sar2667, about a meter in diameter, was expected to fall near the French city of Le Havre at 02:59h UTC. I drove to a photogenic spot close to home in the south of the Netherlands to capture it, just as the sky cleared. #asteroid #meteor @IMOmeteors @apod

Check out our handbook that mentions these rare auroral forms. There is a wealth of information here:

@steamingboots The red band to the south was a typical 'SAR arc', which is a phenomenon which occurs simultaneously with the Aurora, but is something different, although its appearance resembles the red of a Northern Lights show.

@JAtanackov We drove 7 hours southwest to Γ‰tretat to have a big chance of clear skies throughout the night. One show after another occurred from dusk till dawn, so many I lost count. Aurora and associated phenomena spanned the entire northern firmament, sometimes well south of the zenith.

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS), the core of the Milky Way and airglow are making the sky quite colourful, even though the RAW files feature much more of it than the naked eye was ever able to see. Tenerife, October 24, 2024. #CometATLAS #comet #Tenerife

The first image of a trip I prepared for since comet C/2023 A3 was discovered. The dark sky, but moreover thin and dry air over the photogenic island of Tenerife, proved to be excellent for capturing this icy dustball, as well as the core of the Milky Way. #cometatlas #Tenerife
