One of the best things that I did for myself during grad school was put my headphones in and ignore people right before going into an exam, immediately leaving the testing center right after, and not sticking around when people started discussing their grades.

My FM preceptor makes 500k a year. He works half days in his direct primary care clinic 5 days a week and will pick up 3-4 shifts in a rural ER every month. He does not come from generational wealth and graduated from med school with 400k+ debt. 1/2

It’s about gender because it’s common for people to assume females in medical school are becoming anything other than what a medical school degree confers. Institutions can have different programs but medical school is for MDs and DOs. Is that direct enough for you?

Med students are on 4-8 week rotations trying to figure out what field we want to go into for the rest of our career. We can’t switch specialties so easily so forgive us if learning simple procedures that aren’t regularly performed by physicians isn’t a priority

I think we try to make the most of every experience bc we have fewer rotations and no residency, so the more we can learn the better. I’ve heard that some physician preceptors don’t realize that and have students mostly shadow. I could do that before school. I’m here to learn 😂
