On a day in April 2013 after we'd just shot a wedding when @kwesi_mufasa told me he'd met someone on campus at UCC and they'd started dating. He had a good feeling about it. I wished him well.

Serendipity occurred and I ended up shooting the luckiest shot I probably will ever shoot in my life. (2nd frame). I decided to attempt shooting through bus windows. I shot a burst of photos as trotros sped by and got one I couldn't have imagined I would.

We decided to do a small Photowalk in Accra and end up at a cafe - activities that we'd all done together in the past with me as the 3rd wheel. It was magic from the first shot. Our street-style Pre-Wedding in Accra, Ghana.

So they didn't have a glamour-themed Pre-Wedding. They didn't have matching outfits or sports jerseys. No denim and white tees. There were no trying, corny, sophisticated poses. Instead, we achieved (in my opinion) classic genuine moments that are true to them.

I asked if they'd like to respond to what they'd said. During Rachel's response, she got emotional, teary-eyed and she shed a few tears. Nick got up to comfort her of course. She composed herself and insisted on completing what she had to say.

After nearly a decade of dating. Nick & Rachel were getting married. After a decade-plus of shooting weddings with @kwesi_mufasa he was now the groom. It was surreal. He couldn't believe it. They couldn't believe this was happening.

We always discuss our ability to solicit authentic emotions from our couples so as to have their love shine through in the photos we make of them. We're inspired to come up with a concept based on their love story or favorite activity together.

I felt a certain transcendence in the moments. It felt to me as though every photo could be iconic. It was too easy. They made it easy and natural.

I found myself shooting with my people the kind of photos we love to make for our couples. There was very little direction given. I just observed from far as they did their PDA on the streets of Accra as they would on any given day.

It probably helped that @kwesi_mufasa is a photographer and we direct and shoot couples together. It also probably helped that they are used to me pointing a camera at them so that they could ignore me as they had their moments.

Rachel took advantage of some opportunities which saw her leave the country a couple of times for quite a period. Each time, we'd drop her off and pick her up from the airport. I'd watch the goodbyes and welcome homes.

We were shooting the Aboakyer festival a year later when Rachel joined us. We went to the beach after. It was a full moonlit night and also their first anniversary.

They remained a couple after graduation. Rachel worked in Capecoast and furthered her education. Nick returned to Accra to work and develop his photography. He visited as often as he could.

I am definitely a morning person. I love driving early morning and seeing people start their day. I like seeing how the pure morning light seems to bless everything. I love seeing long shadows and pockets of light play with each other. I love photographing that.

She left again. Months later Nick announced to me that they'll be getting married. He even hit the gym and got buff. She got snatched too.

After a while, distance took a toll on them. The little things were exacerbated and they broke up. It was sad. Rachel didn't handle it well. Guess who consoled her?.

Then she was gone for years. I'd ask Nick from time to time how he was, and he'd sometimes reply "I miss my woman." It was hard for him. He applied for a school near her. He didn't get in. It broke him. He bawled.
