Winter wx update! Saturday 5pm: Scattered freezing rain/drizzle will continue with another round coming from the west thru around 11pm. Temps will warm above freezing for most areas by midnight leading to melting and less impacts overnight Still expecting less than .25" for the area. A windy day Sunday. We are still closely monitoring Tuesday for measurable snowfall. We are watching trends in the data shift significantly since Thursday with the heaviest snow aiming more south of our area towards southern MD into VA. Stay tuned for a snowfall totals forecast tonight or tomorrow morning. @FOXBaltimore

❄️Tuesday's Snow Update❄️ (Friday, Feb 7, 5pm) Winter is NOT over. We have another similar ice situation happening on Saturday with only minor impacts, mainly untreated surfaces. But data is starting to agree more that there will be some accumulating snow in Maryland on Tuesday to Wednesday AM. There are still some outliers on the extreme end showing over 1 foot of snow but I am NOT buying that right now. It is still about a day too soon to talk exact snow totals but at the very minimum, there will likely be enough to cover roads and cause travel disruptions. We will take a first crack at forecast snow totals tomorrow evening and refine that forecast each day as we get closer. Stay tuned! @FOXBaltimore

@jake_wx Just posting a snapshot of a model run 5 days away is not giving any good information. It just misleads non-forecasters into a misinformation hole. It would be a much more responsible practice if you could at least put a big label on the photo that says "This is not a forecast"

@JackRuddenWX @jake_wx For #MD the GFS has been extremely dramatic 3-7 days out this year. Doesn't mean it will continue to be that bad but it is an extreme solution right now. Nobody should be hanging their hat on it. Just hanging your hopes on it has led to heartbreak for snow lovers.

@jake_wx @JackRuddenWX Still not close enough to talk totals and the data is wildly different model to model & run to run. The 0Z, 6Z, & 12Z GFS is a perfect example of that. There's been a huge disparity between runs. Which is very untrustworthy.

@JackRuddenWX We are all spending way too much time doing damage control with the fires that these irresponsible forecasters start. I wish people would just wise up and realize how untrustworthy they are.

Wintry Weather Likely Late Wed-Thu AM A Sleet & Freezing Rain mix Wednesday night could make for some messy and hazardous travel. Accumulations from a trace to a few tenths of an inch will make for some slick roads but not enough to cause widespread power outages. @foxbaltimore

@CameronJNixon @chaser_summit May 11, 2005. West KS. A couple of cells formed one went tornadic near Ulysses with a small rope then 2nd much larger one formed during a south cell merger into the inflow. Level 2 data might be rough pre-upgrade but worth a look. Curious what you think.

@CameronJNixon @chaser_summit I also have a good case you could study that might be of interest except it is older date from 2004-2005 if I recall. Will try to dig it up and bring it to you.
