I see a lot of knives out for films that don’t measure up these days. The vitriol is thick, as if the filmmakers have committed some crime by not making a perfect film. Disappointment is one thing, but anger? Filmmaking is fucking hard, and there should be room for failures.

When I wrote the new novelization of NOTLD, I watched the film probably 100 times. Marilyn Eastman’s performance always stood out, grounding the film’s moral center. And her character’s death was so shocking and sad. RIP to Living Dead royalty.
We’re sad to hear of the passing of Marilyn Eastman, who not only played Helen Cooper in NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD but, as a founding member of Image Ten, helped with prop and makeup duties, and even played one of the film’s memorable zombies. RIP.
