@identityshaper 3) Not all calculators are the same. Training is needed on HOW to use a calculator. My HS teacher often told us,"Garbage In leads to Garbage Out when using calculators. " If you don't know how to match symbols on paper with key strokes, the calculator is useless.

The Class of '22 and I started WHS together in Alg 1🐺 Yesterday was the last official day of classes for most of them. There were some goodbyes, hugs & verifications that I would see them at graduation 🎓 .It was a perfect ending to Teacher Appreciation Week 🍎

We used @desmosclassroom today for the first time in Geometry Support. The dashboard helped me monitor every student & determine when we needed to pause for a full group chat. Misconceptions & errors captured on the spot. Light bulbs turned on about Translations! #iteachmath

It was too crowded to move 30-32 Ss around the room for review stations, so we used the hall. I did mini lessons with a laminated poster, while small groups tackled a variety of problems. 💡turned on as Ss worked at their own pace to prep for the test. #iteachmath #WHS

If we’re hell-bent on keeping schools open, shouldn’t we be offering N95s to all teachers and students? . Isn’t every school day a “high risk gathering,” so shouldn’t everyone do a rapid test every morning?. Idk I’m just a doctor whose teacher husband got COVID at school.

My Geometry Ss started class with statements comparing symmetry to transformations. Then Ss explored rotational symmetry with patty paper. They were noting patterns & making conjectures before I discussed the rules for regular polygons. Lots of 🙂&💡#iteachmath #mtbos #SMPs

Can't recall the original source from a conference 10 yrs ago. Lots of bang for the buck with these sequence strips in Alg Support. Ss found the next 3 terms for each, then sorted them into groups. Good conversations while they worked. Next up, writing formulas #WHS #iteachmath

Students can submit written work to your @Desmos AB, and then sketch on it!! Then, you can write feedback to them. I have been STRUGGLING with how long feedback was taking me on PowerSchool and Google Drive. Students Submit Written Work.

@CatLamin I have a Late Work/Grade Discrepancy Google Form posted in every classroom. Students "notify" me when work is complete with title & link/screenshot. So much easier for me to manage with 150 students. I check it a few times a week.

We're still working on constructions. Improved control of the compass for most & some excitement as they attempt the daily challenges. A few Ss have even invested in compass upgrades. Looking forward to their design projects. #WHS #iteachmath #mtbos
