So, the poll has spoken. In a small sample the #OlympicRings are thought to be of genus 1, or maybe 3. Zero is left behind. Did not necessarily expect this. I'd be curious to know why people answered what they answered.

Today I received a phD thesis manuscript. The remarkable thing about it is not that the name Borel occurs twice in the first three lines. The thing is I’ve known the author since they were a child. An infant should I say. Really moving.

Never attended any of his talks, but definitely learnt the basics of functional analysis and PDE in his book. Waited a long time for the workbook that was supposed to come with it, which was circulating as unpublished notes.
Only once in my life have I seriously considered specializing in PDE/functional analysis rather than algebraic topology --- when I was taking Brezis's course at Rutgers (circa 2011??). 1/3

Oh, Aubin Arroyo, co-author with Jean-Michel Othoniel of this wonderful book 🤩. Including a paper by Arroyo and Fabiola Manjarrez-Gutierrez entitled "Dowker-Thistlethwaite Notations & Classification of Jean-Michel Othoniel's Knots".
