The City of Gatlinburg's Utilities Department and Fire Department filled totes of non-potable water earlier today to transport to our neighbors in Cocke County, who suffered from devastating flooding last week.
Law enforcement veteran Ronnie Barrett has been named as the 11th Chief of the Gatlinburg Police Department.
City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle announced that Captain Barrett will assume the position on Friday, June 2.

The recently renovated Mills Park basketball court was re-opened for play on Wednesday, September 14.
The renovated court, though comes with a twist, as the course has also been redesigned for 3-on-3 soccer play.

The Gatlinburg Fire Department will be replacing existing vehicles in its fleet with a pair of new ambulances, which will soon be placed into service.
Along with these new vehicles, the GFD is introducing a new color scheme for all its ambulances.

Crews remain on scene at the 700 block of Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg working on hot spots from a fire which was reported at 6:39 a.m. Sunday morning.

GATLINBURG AWARDED TENNESSEE DOG PARK DASH GRANT
The Dog Park Dash grant program, administered by the Boyd Foundation, will allocate $25,000 in funds for the construction and development of a dog park in Gatlinburg.
The City of Gatlinburg, the Smokies BearWise Task Force, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency are partnering to host an Open House to educate the public and businesses on bear management practices.
AN UPDATE ON SMOKE IN THE GATLINBURG AREA
This afternoon there have been reports of smoke in our community and local authorities have been actively investigating the issue to ensure the well-being of Gatlinburg citizens and visitors.
The evacuation orders placed on the house and two apartment buildings which were evacuated earlier have been lifted. Dudley Creek Road is now open for traffic.

The City & Sevier County are conducting a ceremony to dedicate the 2016 Wildfires Memorial and Tribute Plaza on Friday, June 9 at 2 pm The ceremony will be held at Mynatt Park in Gatlinburg, which is the site of the Memorial and Tribute Plaza.

Downtown Gatlinburg sidewalks have reopened after having been previously closed due to the Sunday, October 9 fire in the 700 Block of Parkway. Permanent fencing was installed by the property owner on Tuesday.

Gatlinburg Fire Department personnel, along with the Sevier County Wildland Task Force, are actively fighting an approximate four-acre brush fire on steep terrain off of Dudley Creek Road.
💐 🌸 The Gatlinburg Recreation Department is spending this morning hanging baskets of flowers across the City. These baskets help enhance the aesthetics of downtown, creating inviting scenery for our citizens and visitors. 🌺 💐
The NPS roads crew is clearing a rockslide on the Northbound Spur near the Spur Tunnel. A short one-lane closure is needed for the crew to remove debris.
