Today my lab is exactly 25 years old. Here I am in 1996 ...We celebrated today as much as was possible. I am proud of all mentees and alumni over the years.. I think I still have that shirt!

So we identified evolutionary changes in the genome that changed a protein to render naked mole-rat cells super resistant to extreme hypoxia. That is cool and one step on the way to engineering hypoxia resistance into human cells!
