There has been a resumption of court sittings by Magistrates after the reinstatement of orderlies by the Inspector General of Police. This followed a meeting between the Judiciary, the Minister of Interior and the IGP. The GBA commends the speedy resolution of this crisis.

Earlier today, the GBA held its AGM to review financial statements, annual reports, and audit findings. Members shared insights and strategies to promote transparency, accountability, and growth, advancing the legal profession in The Gambia.

On Friday, the GBA hosted a Meet & Greet for newly-called lawyers and senior members of the Bar. The event fostered mentorship and emphasized upholding the profession's values. Esteemed attendees included Ms. Hawa Sisay-Sabally, Mr. Borry Touray, Ms. Combeh Gaye, and Ms. Twum.

The GBA paid tribute to the late Ibrahim Kijera Esq. and Elizabeth Ann Rivington for their deep commitment to justice and overall outstanding contributions to the legal profession, at a Valedictory ceremony held on their behalf. Both were remembered for their warm personalities.

@GambiaBar also visited Mahad Senior Secondary School in Brikama and engaged with students on basic human rights concepts & issues. The team also visited the main market & provided free legal advice to the community at the Governor's office. Bringing justice closer to the people.

GBA concluded its recent nationwide outreach & Mobile Legal Clinic in Brikama by visiting the Governor WCR & Home Digital fm. Governor Ousman Bojang applauded the initiative & urged for sustainability & impact, citing land disputes & marginalization of women as areas of concern.

GBA President Neneh M.C Cham & the Special Adviser on Transitional Justice @ipersson87 breaking down the Special Accountability Mechanism: Special Prosecutor’s Office, Special Criminal Division of the High Court & the Special Tribunal/Hybrid Court as integral to the TJ process.

@GambiaBar through support from @DemocracyIntl aims to build national ownership and consensus around the proposed accountability mechanisms, as well as playing an integral role in other ongoing post-TRRC processes such as education and sensitization to promote healing and peace.

GBA continued its sensitization/outreach activities at Jarra Soma Sen. Sec. Sch. by equipping students with a strong foundation in legal awareness. Our aim is to inspire a youth community that is not only informed but also actively engaged in advocating for justice and equality.

@GambiaBar met URR Governor on Wednesday, conducted a Mobile Legal Clinic/outreach @ the Alkalo's in Basse by providing free legal advice & support to the community, visited Koba Kunda Sen. Sec School and community radio station. GBA is aiming to make this a reoccurring activity.
