Announced at #GDC 2 weeks ago: #Adobe and #Autodesk are joining forces to merge the Adobe Standard Material ( #Substance3D ) and the Autodesk Standard Surface ( #Arnold ) into a single, unified and open source, material model. Less standards, better interop, everybody wins.

#Firefly is all the rage these days, but did you know that #Photoshop now supports #Substance filters natively? Download the latest Ps beta and look for "Parametric Filters" in the Filters menu. We ship with a number of filters already and you can import your own SBSAR.

Last week at #GDC , we unveiled Image to Material "Carbon" for #Substance3DSampler . This new iteration brings greatly improved quality and accuracy, as well as a powerful super-rez model that not only increases resolution x4 but also removes jpeg artefacts from the input image.

Going from #Substance3DModeler to @UnrealEngine5 is super easy using @openusd . This Modeler scene is 1.5 billion triangles, exported as USD, imported in UE5 as Nanite meshes with preserved instances and hierarchy, Substance materials w/ triplanar mapping, running at 120fps🤯

@80Level We are not accessing or reading Substance users’s projects in any way, shape or form nor are we planning to or have any means to do it in the first place. I fail to see the point of doing so and every serious company in the industry would drop us immediately if it was the case.

@BartekMoniewski We could say the same about Smart materials or procedural masks in Painter doing a lot of work for you and accelerating texturing, making actually painting textures something a lot less critical. It's a tool, and is not meant to replace but to help and accelerate.

@PeterTarka (1/2) Hi Peter, we were able to look into this. First, I agree this is unacceptable and the team has pulled the assets from the platform. These assets were produced by a vendor about a year ago and unfortunately this set slipped through the cracks of our moderation.

That’s the difference between training on billions of indiscriminately scrapped images vs training on a carefully vetted set of IP-free proprietary images. Though Adobe Research is full of AI wizards and I have no doubt we’ll reach that quality bar (minus the IP infringement).
