I read a report drafted by a PCA Surveyor. Using his hand held "damp meter" he was quoting moisture percentages. Not a single analytical determination the whole report was flawed and inaccurate. Rising damp in all walls hack off and inject chemicals. Unbelievable!

The walls were very cold due to a lack of insulation, and susceptible to penetrating damp issues. Suffering from a combination of rising damp and condensation to the cold exterior walls, resulting a damp smell & cold feel. Remedy was to inject DPC, dryline with thermal panels.

Proten a PCA member quoted £7k to chemically inject a 3 bedroom Terrace house in Bristol Their Surveyor only used a "damp meter" & completed the survey in 20 minutes We conducted full professional analytical Survey & found no rising damp charging £600 saving the home owner £6400

Free advice on products & systems, the damp industry is riddled with "Surveyors" passing off as qualified using fake invented qualifications bought from trade associations. These are worthless certificates & the fundamental reason for misdiagnosis of condensation as rising damp

Avoid damp cowboys a professional will always:
1. Take samples for moisture & Calcium Carbide testing.
2. Extensive use of Thermal imaging camera.
3. Use CCTV for for sub floor determinations.
4. Average survey 2 hours.
No Damp Meters only cowboys use them unfit for purpose!

We get complaints everyday about damp Proofing cowboys. They are easy to identify avoid any of the following:
1. Not VAT registered.
2. Not part of a trade association PCA or DPA.
3. Not a limited company.
4. No professional indemnity insurance.
5. No formal qualifications.

Be interesting to read this book and see what science it's based on? I'm used to seeing RICS Surveyors using damp meters and as for PCA Surveyors forget them! To
My knowledge we are the only truly qualified analytical Chemists testing for rising damp nationally.

Meeting with a RICS surveyor who disputed the absence of rising damp in a property. He turned up with a £300 damp meter. I produced a top of the range thermal imaging camera , Calcium carbide testing CCTV etc over £6k of kit. He walked off muttering when the results were 1% H2O!
