Here’s some the pictures we took guiding members of the Industrial Archaeology on the field trip they made during their annual conference in Cardiff earlier in the month. They came to Swansea to visit the copperworks sites in the Lower Swansea Valley, White Rock and Morfa.

Great day at Oystermouth Castle on Saturday! The sun was shining and more than 200 people came to look at our medieval pottery, and to bring in objects to be identified by Jenna from the Dyfed Region who’s the PAS officer, while Alice demonstrated medieval spinning

One of the high points (literally!) of our walk yesterday was climbing to the top of the limekiln overlooking Tor Bay...but not everybody ventured that bit! The Gower Walking Festival continues all this week - let's hope the weather is as kind as it was to us.

Great time at the Gower Show yesterday! Here’s our stall set up early in the morning ready for people to come in and examine the pottery we’d laid out. And here are the people!

The weather was lovely at Parkmill last Saturday where people were coming to our stand to see and touch pottery of all ages from the Iron Age to the beginning of the 20th century. Some brought finds they had made themselves to show us, like this iron salamander.

At Neath Abbey Ironworks om our sensory walk we had a bottled smell of iron as it’s being smelted, and in Neath Abbey we made rubbings of the carvings stored in the undercroft and listened to plainsong in the church.

The Festival of Archaeology is over for this year - we have some lovely memories from last week’s activities. Here are some photos from the sensory walk on Tuesday we did with Neath Port Talbot Council. At the Roman fort in Neath we tasted a drink made to a genuine Roman recipe.
