Is Thursday your laundry day? Whenever it is, just for this week, may it symbolically commemorate this evocation of Ruth Lexton's grandparents as generated by that great workhorse of domestic furniture, the washing machine: #GhostFurnitureCatalogue

One of the few preserved early medieval furniture. A chair made of maple and ash was found in the grave of a man from Trossingen dating back to 580 CE. It survived because it was located in a wetland. Archäologisches Landesmuseum Baden - Württemberg. #archaeohistories

Monday’s poem is by the utterly distinctive #SeanOBrien, who suggests we might take a turn round the garden - not that way! Ah, well. Such is the atmosphere he conjures from the memory of a shed - half-sinister, half-sacred: #GhostFurnitureCatalogue

Re #TheGoreyFormula: if this definition is derived from ‘Animal, Vegetable, Mineral?’ does that mean furniture is a mineral? Surely then there would be table & chair mines, etc? Whereas we all know lampshades grow in forests and sofas are found on the seabed, then squeezed dry.

While reading @GreeningPoet's translation of #Rilke's 'The Bed' we wondered if other poets starting with an R had written #FurniturePoems. Guess who: A funny thing about a Chair: You hardly ever think it’s _there_. To know a Chair is really it, You sometimes have to go and sit.

It's #BlueMonday, but, before you pour the Blue Nun or Curaçao and put The Cure/New Order on the turntable, try reclining with some #Rilke. @GreeningPoet has translated 'Das Bett' from Neue Gedichte: #GhostFurnitureCatalogue
