Out of pure curiosity, if the #Yankees fail to bring in another infielder, who would you prefer getting the bulk of the reps at 3B to start the year?

@Elprez_epm So you just don’t think Volpe’s defensive or baserunning production is worth anything?

Correction on Arenado’s contract: He is indeed owed $52M in cash over the next 3 years from STL. But he also has $20M deferred over the 16 years too, which bumps his luxury tax aav number to ~$25M/yr. Still think the point stands - the deferred money should be easy for NYY.

@elxysmile @spotrac You’d think that $20M deferred over almost 20 years is a good thing for NYY lol

#STLCards were reportedly willing to send $15-20 million to the Astros in a potential Nolan Arenado trade before Arenado reportedly used his no-trade clause. #ForTheLou

@elxysmile Feel free to do the math. Cards owe $52M. If they take on 20, that leaves $32M left

Not sure who needs to hear this but 2022 Josh Donaldson has more in common with 2025 Paul Goldschmidt than 2025 Nolan Arenado.

Nolan Arenado isn’t my first choice for third base. You could see that trade going sideways the way it did Josh Donaldson. Unlike when the Yankees acquired Donaldson off a strong 2021, Arenado’s numbers have dipped. The peripherals look bad, too. Herein lies the issue. There aren't many better options than Arenado unless they go with Alex Bregman, and it just feels outside the realm of possibility that this team looks Boras’ way there. Considering the Yankees are heading into spring with Oswaldo Cabrera and DJ LeMahieu at third—the most unserious thing they can do—Arenado is an upgrade from both. There's no surprise Jose Ramirez trade coming. They probably won't pull off that MLB-Luka equivalent, so it’s hard even to wonder where they'll go to get a player that fits their profile. The clock is ticking right now if it’s about money (This is Hal, who are we kidding 😂Money is all that matters here.), then the Yankees better figure something out quick.
