Nutrition despite being one of the most cost-effective drivers of development, as the latest figures from the World Bank show, is still desperately underfunded. We welcome the World Bank's new Investment Framework for Nutrition and urge partners to get behind these important policy recommendations. Government budgets continue to be squeezed, exacerbated by the global economic downturn and donors' budgets being stretched between a multitude of crises, including humanitarian responses to global conflict and the increasing threat of climate change.
For every $1 invested in nutrition, we get $23 back. The cost of inaction? A staggering $41T over 10 years. Let's #InvestInNutrition! The @WorldBank's report highlights the need for $13B/year in financing to improve global nutrition:

Despite the availability of nutrition treatments, uptake remains alarmingly low in many countries. Understanding the underlying reasons is crucial for improving access and ensuring more children receive the care they need. Our Access Initiative monitoring tool, developed in partnership with @Irish_Aid, @UNICEF, @UniOfLib School of Public Health and the Ministry of Health Liberia has been successfully implemented in Liberia. This tool is instrumental in identifying barriers to treatment and informing targeted interventions. Last month, our Monitoring Evaluations and Programme manager @OshiokeGHB travelled to Liberia to attend a workshop discussing the latest data from the initiative. His visit provided valuable insights into the project's successes and challenges. In this blog, Suleiman shares key takeaways, highlights recent improvements in uptake, and shares hope for the future. Read it here: #NutritionMatters #Nutrition4All #SDG2 #SDG17

A mother’s chest: the tiniest home with the greatest comfort, where the smallest of infants can listen to the comforting pulse of the mother. Kangaroo mother care might be one of the simplest interventions for low-birth weight babies, but with the most extraordinary and beautiful benefits. Read our blog by Imteaz Mahmund, where he delves into this lifechanging intervention: #MotherandBaby #Nutrition4All #NutritionMatters #SDG2 #SDG3 #SDG17

The state of global hunger and malnutrition is simply unacceptable. World leaders need to act now. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced the G20-led Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, to tackle the 733 million people who face hunger, revealed by the #SOFI2024 report. We have just signed the open letter urging world leaders to join the Global Alliance and take bold action to end hunger, malnutrition and poverty. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest programme – a partnership with @gavi and @AKF_Global integrating nutrition and immunisation in Pakistan. This $7.2 million programme will set about reducing the unacceptable prevalence of stunting in the country, which currently affects nearly half of all children. On top of this, Pakistan also has one of the highest burdens of ‘zero dose’ children - 1.2 million children have not received vital immunisations. Nutrition and immunisation are often treated in silos, despite aiming to support the same target populations. By combining the two in one programme, we’re aiming to create lasting self-sustaining change for millions of children. Afsana and her family are one of many involved in our Dr. Didi programme in Uttar Pradesh, India, implemented by @GroupMWorldwide in partnership with funding by @Unilever, @Cargill and @noradno. We met her this summer and she talked to us about how, through the programme, she’s learnt about the importance of diet diversity for her children. With support from the programme, the family now live healthier lives. Read Afsana’s story here: #Nutrition4All #NutritionMatters #SDG2 #SDG6 #SDG17

With the appointment of @DavidLammy and @AnnelieseDodds into @FCDOGovUK, our CEO @JimEmerson_ gave his reaction - citing the need for re-alignment of development priorities to give greater support to nutrition, as we face worsening global food insecurity and malnutrition crises. Congratulations on your appointment. The UK’s important, powerful and cost-effective work for women and children’s nutrition drastically declined under the previous FCDO administration. While fully recognising the continuing financial constraints, we encourage you to consider re-aligning development priorities to give greater support to nutrition, which is a crucial precondition for positive outcomes in so many other areas of development, from education to early childhood development, to enhancing the life chances of adolescent girls, to raising the economic wellbeing of families and of nations, and to ensuring adaptation to climate change. We look forward to working together!

Our latest impact report is out! Working in partnerships, we've reached > 157 million people with better nutrition, putting an end to 873,919 cases of stunting, averting 723,707 cases of anaemia and preventing 24,449 deaths in children under five. Read more here: #FundNutrition #SDG2 #SDG17

Were you aware that malnutrition affects more women than men? When it comes to closing the gender gap, nutrition must be part of the conversation. Our programmes support women as much as they do children. Maharashtra is an excellent example - together with @UNICEF and the Government of Norway (@noradno) we’re empowering women by providing education around best nutrition practices, for them and their families. We’re also challenging gender norms by engaging men in early childhood development practices to strengthen shared family support for young children. Read more about our programme in Maharashtra here: #Nutrition4All #SDG2 #SDG3 #SDG4 #SDG5 #malnutritionmatters #partnerships

Our team have been pleased to join events at the #WHA77 in Geneva this week. A highlight was joining the event hosted by our partners @FCDOGovUK, @gavi, @EleanorCrookFdn and @SUN_Movement to hear panelist’s discuss the importance of Nutrition and Immunisation integration - which TPoN has been championing across several of the country programmes we have initiated. The mutually reinforcing benefits are significant to address the double burden of malnutrition and low immunisation coverage and we are delighted to hear the attention that this multisectoral approach is getting at such a critical time. Read our blog to find out more about this link: @shelleypigott @dralokiranjan
A child lacking proper vaccination is 18% more likely to be wasted and 7% more likely to be stunted. Yet #nutrition and #immunization services are rarely provided together to children. Join us to #PowerTheChange for joint service delivery⏩
