The Enlightenment spread not because of its truth, but because its framework precipitated the invention of the sextant, the firearm, and credit based finance. Other Noble Lies (think Hammurabi / shekel) spread because of their utility. The very idea that three green pieces of paper are of equivalent value to a cheeseburger is a Noble Lie, but a useful one. Do you wish to quit that particular Noble Lie Game? If not, then you too are choosing which Noble Lies are of benefit to you. Who's Noble Lies become canonical? This is a good question, that will be resolved by Darwin's Knife. Noble Lies which are of less utility will die out and be replaced by Noble Lies of greater utility, just like they always have been. To your original shower thought that started this chain - humans have been bred genetically to adopt and believe noble lies because the ability to believe them is useful to societies. Atheist rationalists are doing just as much damage to Western Culture as the Woke are, because they heave traditionalist proof tested Noble Lies over the fence without realizing that something else is necessarily going to step into that gap. You are staring at a beast that you made. The way to fight it is not to whine about it, it's to quit foolishly trying to teach secular humanism to Wal Mart shoppers and instead find another Noble Lie that fits neatly into their heads with better societal efficacy than Kendi.

If a compromise is reached where Putin doesn't get at least the Donbass, Putin will catch hell domestically. And Zelinski has his foot down on the no-compromise position because he has to because leaders in his position don't have a choice. I don't see a way out that saves face for all involved. There may be a very small window. If Trump can convince Putin to leave Ukraine intact but with extreme binding diplomatic measures hamstringing NATO's ability to encroach any further than they already have, then Putin might be able to call that a win and Zelinsky as well.
