Earlier today, I inspected the ongoing construction of the Ezza-Ofu - Iziogo road. We will not relent on our resolve to develop our rural infrastructure in Ebonyi State. - #FON

I am particularly impressed by the caliber of personalities managing the security of our Nation, Nigeria. Today, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia, AIG Suleiman Yusuf was at my office on a courtesy visit. I listened to him with rapt attention and he is a square peg in a square hole. As always, we will work together with him. Ebonyi State is peaceful and with our hardworking stakeholders in the security sector especially our Comissioner of Police, Ebonyi will remain peaceful and prosperous. The meeting was an opportunity to stress on the importance of community policing, welfare and reward system in the Nigerian Police. - #FON

Yesterday, with great joy and pride, we flagged off our historic initiative, the 2024/2025 Ebonyi State Scholarship programme, marking it with the departure of 204 Ebonyians to the United Kingdom and 541 other Ebonyians in various other Universities in Nigeria for their Masters and Doctorate degree programs. This celebration is not just an investment in education, but an investment in the future of our State and no infrastructure can be bigger than this. It is an event that demonstrates our commitment to human capital development which occupies centre stage in our Government. I urge you, our scholars, to immerse yourselves fully in your studies, embrace the cultures you encounter, and build networks that will be invaluable to your growth. But remember, your ultimate mission lies here at home. Upon completing your studies. For emphasis, we expect you to return to our State and channel your expertise into sectors that need your innovation, creativity, and leadership. May your journey be successful and rewarding as proud ambassadors of Ebonyi State. - #FON

Earlier in the day, I received the Association of Computer Village Techonology Merchants of Nigeria in my office on a courtesy visit. They were led by their Chairman, Prince Tony Nwaokike. I am glad that they are thinking home, to bring their businesses back to the South East, particularly in Ebonyi State. I am delighted to have received the President of Salt Partners Ltd (Switzerland), Mr Vladimir Sedivy today, at the Government House of Ebonyi State. On invitation by the State Government, he came to discuss the development of Salt Mineral Deposits in Ebonyi State. I have given approval for him to carry out a comprehensive feasibility studies of our salt deposits. Should the reports come out bankable, he will set up a salt factory for Ebonyi State. I have equally directed the State Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to further discussions with Mr. Sedivy on the economic viability of the project. - #FON

I am one of the luckiest Governors Ebonyi has produced. In my time, we have witnessed the surge into glory of fine Ebonyians into the coveted ranks of Brigadier Generals of the Nigerian Army. One of them is my good brother and friend, Brig. Gen. Igwe Omoke. Over the weekend, I was in Okposhi, Ohaozara Local Government Area, to celebrate with him and his family, on his Thanksgiving to God and the Dedication of the Church building he erected for his people of Assemblies of God, Mgbom Okposhi. Brig. Gen. Igwe Omoke has proven that he is more than an officer, but a man close to God’s heart and the people. I am proud of what our people have gone on to achieve. As God lives, Ebonyi people will continue to rise to great heights. - #FON

I am delighted for the people of OHANIVO Federal Constituency to have a representative like Hon. Dr. Kama Nkemkanma. Kama is a good guy. He is humble, hardworking and intelligent. He is not of my political party, but I am happy I attended his Empowerment Programme on Sunday, December 29, 2024, because I am the Governor of Ebonyi State. And so, I once again congratulate the Member Representing OHANIVO Federal Constituency at the National Assembly for such an impactful outing. It is his first time and he has done Ebonyi people proud. As Government, we will continue to work and support our leaders to bring dividends of democracy to our people. What Kama has done is a product of the peace and unity in Ebonyi State and we are proud of him. Congratulations to the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme and more of the same, Hon. We will restore peace in Ivo Local Government Area, by every means possible. Yesterday, I engaged the stakeholders of Umobor, Akaeze and Ogwor, Ishiagu in a meeting at my office, over the lingering communal crisis between them. The Elueke parcel of land which is in dispute has been declared a buffer zone by the Government of Ebonyi State. I have given them two weeks to meet and work out modalities for peaceful resolution. If this is not done, Government will have no other choice than to take over the disputed land. Peace is paramount. - #FON

Today, I delightfully received in my office, the report of the 9-Member Committee on Payment of Gratutity to Retirees of Ebonyi State Civil Service, led by Prof. Mrs. Adeline Idike. I inaugurated this committee on August 23, 2023 with the mandate of paying of gratuity to retired civil servants of Ebonyi State Civil Service from 1996 to 2023. I am grateful to the committee, for accepting to undertake this assignment and to do it diligently with every sense of duty and love. They made our retirees comfortable during the exercise and I remain grateful to them for their uncommon disposition. Ebonyi State Government is not owing anyone pension, gratuity or salary to the glory of God Almighty. - #FON

His Excellency, Elder Prof. Chigozie Ogbu (OFR) is an inspirational institution for studies. As far back as our minds can take us, he was an exceptional administrator as CMD of our then Teaching Hospital, a proper leader as Deputy Governor of our State and then a Vice Chancellor of repute in our University today. His feet have stamped indelible marks of impactful history in Ebonyi State, and we are grateful for his years of service to Ebonyi State. We will continue to engage him, in ways capable of allowing him to open up his fount of knowledge to flow back into our stream of learning and development. For our University family, Ebonyi State University, the reign and positive aura of Elder Prof. Chigozie Ogbu should spur them to more productivity in solving the problems of our society today, through research and application of same. This will proclaim practical appreciation of his toils, as he readies to bow out as the Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University. In his honour, we gathered yesterday to witness the presentation of a book titled: Trends in Health, Administration, Politics and Academia: A Festschrift in Honour of the Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, His Excellency, Elder Prof. Chigozie Ogbu. Christened BUDGET OF ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, it has been carefully prepared to guarantee industrialization, improved standard of living and overall economic growth of our State. - #FON
