It was 1982. Italy was celebrating its victory at the World Cup, when TV passed the images of hundres of dead bodies in Sabra and Shatila camps, Lebanon. I thought they were broken dolls. They were Palestinian refugees. 35 years later I decided to write a book about them.

Palestinian minority who was not forcibly displaces from Palestine by Israel in 1948. Who remained in Israel as terrified stateless "enemies". Got Israeli citizenship in 1966. Discrimination against them never ended.

Hamas launched rockets at Israel. Tel Aviv was hit.
Israel bombed Gaza. In less than 30 hours, 35 Palestinians were killed, including 11 kids.

I’ve just started hearing the phrase “sectarian violence in Israel”... so I’m going to clear this up. This is settler colonialism. Armed rampaging mobs of Israeli settlers, backed by the state police and army, are lynching and assaulting indigenous Palestinians.
