Literally, the ONLY thing that matters in life is making it to heaven when you die. You could achieve all the success the world has to offer, but if at the end of your life, you die and go to hell, your life has been a TOTAL waste.

I offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the 5,000th time in my priesthood today. I’m immensely grateful to God for this gift.

I asked my parish musicians not to do this. At Mass, we’re not Americans. In that particular moment in time (outside of time, actually), we’re just Catholic.

Fr. Horan, no one is claiming that all life isn’t equally sacred. No one. What we ARE claiming is that it isn’t equally threatened. There is only one group of innocent people in our society who can legally be killed for no reason whatsoever...the unborn.

For me, the saddest thing in the whole SPI situation with the @Dodgers has been the number of priests and religious who are defending the group and the event. Like, we can’t even agree that mocking our Lord and His sacrifice are intrinsically wrong.

Politics aside, this is true. I'm actually starting to be concerned for President Biden's health. If he's sick, I hope they have the foresight to call a priest. His issue positions aside, he's still a baptized Catholic. We should want his salvation as much as anyone's.

FOX News now reporting that Kamala Harris is set to give public comments at 11:30 AM today. We're going to hear from Kamala before we hear from the president of the United States, who dropped out of the race and hasn't been seen in five days. This is not normal.

My college seminary rector had a hard rule…absolutely no complaining about the liturgy for at least an hour after Mass was over. By then, you had usually forgotten about it anyway. Every Sunday on Catholic Twitter, I’m reminded of how wise this was.

So, serious question then. If it "doesn't signify approval of the union," what DOES it signify? If it signifies helping someone reform a particular way of life at odds with the Gospel, we already have a blessing for that. It's called the prayer of absolution.

Yes, I have a very simple litmus test when deciding for whom to vote...don’t support intentionally killing innocent people. That’s it. If you pass this basic litmus test, I move on to other issues. If that makes me a one-issue voter, so be it. Some things are that grave.

I just watched a TV show about Freemasonry. Reminder that the doctrines of Masonry are completely antithetical to the doctrines of Christ. Far too much to get into on this platform. But suffice it to say…you can’t be Catholic and a Freemason.

Folks, we must obey our bishops so long as they are not advocating a violation of divine law. You may disagree vehemently. But that’s precisely where obedience enters in. Anyone can “obey” something they agree with. It takes virtue to obey when they disagree.

Discussion on this was closed by St. John Paul II in Ordinatio Sacerdotalis. When asked if this was to be held as an infallible statement, Cardinal Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI, said yes. Stop confusing the faithful with this nonsense.

@swilsonsmith The same logic can be used to call abortion a “legitimate medical procedure.” Some cultures sell pre-pubescent girls to their male suitor in arranged “marriages.” Just because a culture says “X is Y” doesn’t actually mean that “X is Y.”

I don’t disagree with ANY of this. But the underlying assumption that Fr. Martin makes is that left-leaning policy positions on each of these issues lead to better outcomes for these groups of people. That’s debatable. And by that, I don’t mean “dubious.” I mean, “debatable.”

A reminder when a politician is called "pro life": Pro life means reverencing not just the unborn child, but the Black person whose life is endangered, the inmate on death row, the starving homeless person, the migrant family. Pro life means pro all lives, not pro some lives

Here’s a sobering thought...if you say “no,” to your vocation, be it priesthood, religious life, marriage, consecrated virginity, whatever, you may still save your own soul, but other souls may lose their salvation as a direct result of your choice.

I don’t have any affinity for the TLM. I don’t know how to celebrate it. I don’t really have a strong desire to learn it. But, I will defend to the hills the right of my brethren who DO prefer the TLM to worship in that rite. This is a hit piece, plain and simple.

This is very concerning. I am BEGGING our bishops and especially our beloved Holy Father to clarify this. For instance, #5 says that we’ll strive to respect ALL spiritual traditions. Your Excellencies, some of these traditions are incompatible with the Catholic faith.

Advocating that it should be legal to kill unborn children places one at odds with both natural law and by extension Divine Law. Thus, there IS a hierarchy of values. Conflating all of these matters does nothing but confuse the faithful.
