October 5th 2021 I had just turned 16, just left grade 11 to work on my idea for a startup and was scared out of my mind. Now I’m 17, frenter has raised over $1M to date from VC’s, and we’re growing rev 40% MoM! Here’s what I’ve learned ⬇️

I think oftentimes first time founders get caught up in how they think a business works vs how it actually works. I know when I first started I had this perception that hiring and adding employees was a sign of growth. Biggest realization was we need to maximize $ Value per hire

It’s super important to understand fundraising is the means to an end. I think this slow down of fundraising won’t stop the companies that have solid plans and G2M. But it will cut out the fundraising from people who are just raising cause they can.

Weekends are hit & miss in startups. Sometimes I’m trying to complete a project/deal and just want it to be Monday. But theirs time where I’ve had a crazy week and just need a break. It’s normally the first one though!

Agree that kids should enjoy child hood but alot of us entrepreneurs have an itch that we want to scratch at any age and honestly the education and learnings from starting a business are completely different then what you learn in the classroom. You can do both!

Curious what people’s thoughts are of taking calls with VC’s that aren’t deploying capital/wrong stage and if its a waste of time or not. Personally I think it can be super helpful since they can provide unbiased insight as well as it’s a great opportunity to network.

1. Hiring should be the last result to a internal problem, people can bring more problems if they’re not hired for a specific role. Focus on using technology or other tools to solve first before hiring.

3. Revenue is king but you also must take the time in the beginning to learn from your customers. Talk to your customers about your product, it’s features and values and make sure you have something that solves a real need before you start trying to get paid customers.

3 lessons I’ve learned from being an entrepreneur:
1. Put your head down and do the work and the money will follow
2. Build a business focussed around a mission or problem and not an individual
3. Grass is always greener on the other side because it’s often fake

5. Have fun, for the first 6 months of my business I worked in my office till 9pm and didn’t really do much. Now I’ll work 9-6pm and I think I’m 10x more effective and the results are showing. Take care of yourself both mentally and physically through socializing! It’s crucial!
