Do you get donations mostly from people or mostly from businesses? We had “supply chain” problems until we joined with another group. Together We were serving more people so it was easier to get the grocery stores to help out. It gave us a larger variety of food + bakery items once or twice a week.

You’d be surprised I think. We have grocery stores that donate cases of canned food and fresh baked goods & dairy. We used to be open more hours, but when cases of food started disappearing, we had to have at least 4 volunteers in the store to make sure cases of food weren’t walking out the door.

Yes they do. They also sell school supplies and children’s clothes & shoes. It’s sad, especially for the kids. What you call “small percent” are people who take enough donations for several families to eat for a week. It’s not “demonizing” when you see it happen with your own eyes.
