Settlements like these have cost the city millions over the past few years. So much that a discussion of settlements was part of the fiscal conditions listed in last year's budget (see page 32 below).

New: The city of Sacramento is paying a large $4.35M settlement to the family of unarmed Black man Reggie Payne who died after police held him down in a dangerous position in his parents’ living room.
His mother had called 911 to get him an insulin IV.
Racism is: Supervisor Sue Frost voting NO on the Sacramento COUNTY resolution to declare racism a public health issue.
It passed though. So she and her racist horde can kick rocks.
