We are thankful for the generosity of our visitors. π The 2024 Fitzroy Food Drive has collected an impressive 130lbs of donations for West Carleton Food Access Centre. That is more than double the weight from last year! π₯« Thank you for supporting our local community. π π

This is Sarah, Fitzroyβs head gate attendant. Sarah has worked for Ontario Parks for 6 years. She supervises our office students, provides customer service, and manages our social media channels. π π Sarah enjoys seeing all the different animal species throughout the park.π’

We would like to give a big thank you to our maintenance team for upkeeping the park all season long!π οΈ On top of regular park maintenance, the 2024 team made repairs to critical infrastructure throughout the season to keep systems running.π¨ βοΈ

Meet Kevin, our manual laborer.π οΈ This year marks 35 years of service with Ontario Parks at Fitzroy for Kevin. Kevin enjoys working outside with the nice scenery of the park and watching the leaves change every year during the fall.π

Sam, our Park Warden recently found a fungi species while inspecting a Trail .π Lion's Mane is one of many fungi found along the trail systems in the park. It is commonly found on logs or dead and dying hardwood trees.π³ #FungiFriday

Today's #FungiFriday brings us the Crowned-Tipped Coral Fungus.π It's namesake comes from the tipped edges that resemble the points on a crown.π This mushroom is commonly found of decaying logs.

Water safety is important! Sudden immersion in cold water can affect your ability to swim. Colder weather means colder water. π β Wear a PFD! It can save your life. β Check the weather and plan a route before using a watercraft. β Ensure you have all safety equipment.
