Up to 34 children could be involved in a case in which a Windhoek resident yesterday appeared in court for criminal charges linked to allegations that he sexually abused under-age boys and used them to make pornography that was sold to internet websites.

The tragedy is that the real number of child rape in Namibia is likely to be higher due to the perpetrator being protected by family and friends who either do not believe the child, want to protect the family name or do not want to see the perpetrator jailed.
