Year end review: What a crazy year! For most of it, my portfolio was right around or slightly below the indexes, held down mostly by my outsized positions in Snowflake & Tesla. From the election onward though, that changed, with Tesla really driving my portfolio up as I hit a year-high of 60% YTD before the selling the last few days of the year. Ended the year at 43% YTD. I'll take it!! Tesla has run up SO MUCH that its now a very outsized position for me (around 40%). Lots of lessons and continuing to improve my insights (I hope). Thank you to all who are on this journey, hopefully 2025 makes us all enough to retire (if we aren't already). Good luck to y'all.

I do, especially initially. And maybe it depends on how/if Tesla markets it in places. Most don't realize a Tesla can drive you TODAY. The Tesla network is supposedly to be built around where they have charging stations and will have self-vacuuming and such... the competition will be interesting to watch and benefit consumers. In this scenario though, Tesla still wins because its still their cars.

@jwat_5 If this happens, I think UBER will need to incentivize somehow people putting their Tesla into the UBER fleet.

@jwat_5 Sounds good. IIRC, it was stated in October and more recently that those who own a Model Y will be able to put them into the fleet.

I'm not sure we are talking about scale the same way. My Tesla Model Y drives me everywhere, highway, city... everywhere. Tesla has millions of cars on the road that do this. In June, all these cars can be used to compete with Uber. Now, I don't live in Austin, but when they turn this on in Nashville, I can make some extra money by putting my car into this fleet while I'm not using it. There are ZERO other cars driving themselves in the Nashville area.

@samsolid57 called this out right away! Cheers to you
Call me contrarian but I think futures gap down and make things look really scary overnight, then recovery in shallow red before open tomorrow and end the day green.

I honestly haven't gotten that deep yet for crypto prices. An API is easy to pull the data in to Snowflake (basically makes it feel like a UDF call to pull the data). For stock data, its even easier than that, its a free datashare. Meaning it appears as a separate database to directly query against.

@samsolid57 Its custom. Built with... SNOWFLAKE (I know I know, big surprise). I use Streamlit as the app/interface and get the stock data from Snowflake's data share, so don't have to do any API hit or anything. Hoping to find the same kind of thing with crypto but haven't yet...
