and ESOTERICA, where we'll be talking about Neoplatonism and its relationship to various intellectual and religious traditions. Starting tomorrow, Friday
New video on the channel, covering the important and inspiring story about Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza'iri (Emir Abd el-Kader), his fight against French colonialism, sufi practices and Akbarian philosophy:
Today, the so-called "Grand Magal" is celebrated around the world by members of the Mouridiyya sufi order. It is a commemoration of the order's founder Ahmadou Bamba (d. 1927) and his exile from Senegal by French colonial powers.
In case you guys didn't know, I am quite fond of music. And in my lastest video on my second channel, I talk about the philosophical and spiritual aspects of the music of Bach:
My latest video is a (kind of) remake of an earlier episode about one of my favorite Sufi poets - Abu'l Hasan al-Shushtari.
You can also hear me attempt to read Arabic 👀
Just posted a new video about the fascinating tradition of "Tarantella", a type of folk dance and music from Southern Italy that might be connected to the ancient mystery rites of Dionysus. Check it out below:
My latest video is an hour long dive into the history, teachings & practices of Isma'ili Shi'ism:
Thank you to
@KhalilAndani
for academic/editorial feedback!
Considering that the new "Assassin's Creed" game comes out today, it might be worthwhile to revisit my old video about the actual history behind (at least the first) game and the titual "Assassins".
Merry Christmas and Happy Holdiays to anyone celebrating!
Because I've been sick, I haven't been able to prepare a video for Christmas this time. So why not revisit my video from last year?
Finally! The first episode of the Let's Talk Religion Podcast is out! It should be available wherever you get your podcasts. Make sure to subscribe to get updates 🙂

New Video!
My latest video explores the relationship that many people in Sweden have with nature as something sacred/religious:
...and features an interview with my old professor David Thurfjell.
We're happy to announce today's release of The Divine Names by ʿAfīf al-Dīn al-Tilimsānī, edited & translated by Yousef Casewit! Al-Tilimsānī merges mysticism and philosophy to offer a sophisticated commentary on the 146 names of God mentioned in the Qur’an.
As many of you know, I have been composing music for my videos on Let's Talk Religion. Today, I am releasing a full album (9 tracks) of that material. Check it out if you want an atmospheric soundtrack to the summer heat!
This day represents his eventual victory over worldly oppression as well as his own self/ego.
Bamba fought a struggle of non-violence against French colonialism until his death in 1927, and was so successful that his movement is one of the largest sufi orders in the world today.
Just recorded a video for two hours just to realize that the microphone was making weird noises the whole time.
So... You'll just have to withstand a video with crappy sound, cause I'm not doing that again.
Need a general overview of Sufism's relationship with Islam? I've got you covered! My new video tackles this very subject.
Part of a collaboration with

A shi'i sufi order founded by a sunni master from Aleppo, and all the history that goes along with it. Watch my latest video on Shah Ni'matullah Wali & The Ni'matullahi Sufi order:

Mirage features some really interesting historical characters. In this video, I talk about Arib al-Ma'muniyya & music in Abbasid Baghdad:
