120 WRC+ and god awful defense, not to discredit him at all but that’s what the numbers dictate he is to lead to that WAR. Plus, batting average was 21 points higher league wide in 2008 compared to 2022. WAR is all dictated by comparing to the league around him at that time.

This is such a brutal take. Instead of saying the system is broken, why not give the Rangers and DBacks and credit for where they got.
The Rangers went 8-0 on the road in the playoffs, and we are supposed to say the system is broken? The DBacks went 6-2 in their own right.
This is the least compelling World Series matchup in a long time, maybe ever. MLB made a lot of great and overdue changes this season but it's time to contract the playoffs and give the regular season more meaning.
