In 2018 I told my dad I was trans. He was the last family member I had to tell even though it had been 6 months since I knew, and I was so nervous he would be disappointed in me. After I told him he looked at me, paused, then asked me, "are you sure? that's a big decision"

A week later he had a massive heart attack and passed away at 45. He had only been sleeping for 3-4 hours a night for 3 years and couldn't get in to see a doctor until it was too late. Today I thank him for teaching me about girls, cars, motorcycles, and how to enjoy life.

As I was leaving for home, I gave him a wave goodbye from my bike and I saw him smile like I'd never seen before. He looked proud and happy I had figured myself out, and was happy to have another daughter. I didn't know it at the time, but that was the last time I would see him.
