A friend brought my attention to this cool thingie called Mixbox. This can help to achieve a realistic color blending. The cooler thing is it is already part of flip fluid addon! Any idea if this script can be implemented on Texture paint mode too? That would be so nice!

I have been working on some organic brushes for blender. They are not completely sorted yet. But I thought I can share some progress so far.
Oil brushes are too laggy right now. But I only tested them on a laptop. Maybe they will work better on a decent pc! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

After baking you can repaint the normal textures. It is ok if neighboring colors trespasses a little. Check out my free brush sets if you want some brush variation for blender!
Also add the normal map to your material as usual. Keep it object space!

Quick 30mins sketch for fun, I've always seen people going "No you can't paint the normals or fix it with painting" There, I painted it all then, will try to do that properly on some tileable this weekend.

After setting up lighting and materials I baked object space normal for all objects. All objects were flat shaded. You can directly bake them from cycle bake option under Normal. Make sure to select object from "space" And color space for image is "Non Color."

Alternatively, you can also bake with emit mode with this node setup which is also great for visualizing the object space. Again color space should be "Non color"
