The smallest star ever discovered in terms of diameter is a magnetar (SGR 1935+2154) located in the Milky Way roughly 30,000 light-years away. This incredible object is only around 5 miles in diameter, but it’s unbelievably dense. So dense that a teaspoon of it would weigh about 10 million tons! On top of its inconceivable density, this magnetar was also discovered to be the source of fast radio bursts, which are mysterious and rarely detected bursts of radio waves from space.
