Since some folks need it more clearly: I’m *not* saying the boy was trans because he wanted pink shoes. I *am* saying how we police gender (affirming care bans are an extreme example) harms all children. And that love looks like self-determination—for trans and cis kids alike.

I have a queer friend who, when folks say something offensive, simply replies, “Wow, that’s so boring.” I love it. Don’t dignify hate by letting people believe they’re saying something new, worthy of serious consideration, or—laughably—countercultural. Just, “Wow, so boring.”
