When the Mets ink Ryu, to join Quintana and Houser and ask their rotation to generate weak contact in front of an elite defense in a pitcher's park, don't act surprised when (with their front-end heavy pen) they "get lucky" and significantly outperform their run differential.

The Lindor trade in a vacuum was good. The Lindor trade in the reality that Springer and Realmuto were available for just money and you could have kept Gimenez as your SS makes it much less good, because we don't live in a vacuum.

Megill has 2014 deGrom vibes. Relatively nondescript late draft pick comes to the bigs with modest expectations. Then it's, "oh, he throws hard" and "oh, he has a slider and a changeup" and "oh, he's commanding everything". Next thing you look up and you got a ROY candidate.

I had some thoughts about the #Mets shoving their chips all-in on J.T. Ginn. I attempted to progressively analyze Ginn's repertoire and what it might indicate about how some in the industry perceive his ceiling. @Mets_Minors

@MetsDaddy2013 @mikemayerMMO Imagine being an area scout who stuck your neck out in the draft room for Peden, Sharp, even Tripp, Noah Nunez, and Chambers, only to have these guys not get a full crack at it. That's their career growth being stunted as well.

I was pretty happy with how this piece came together. Not every guy to make an impact is a big prospect, and the underdog stories are the most fun to witness.

The Marte trade winds worry me because: -- his +2 OAA in '19: what happens if/when the Mets don't position him as well as PIT -- Mets acquiring a 31 y/o bat with big expectations -- my fear of steep regression is ingrained -- Why are the Mets almost the only ones in on him?

Hot take: Jacob deGrom is a better bet to pitch well into his late 30s than almost any other pitcher on the planet.

Reminder: Anthony Rendon is as good as Lindor. He costed zero talent, only money. #Mets didn't even try.

Thinking about how the Astros have succeeded with Martin Maldonado. As the Mets strengthen the rest of the roster's ability to pitch and score runs, it makes the case only stronger to play Tomas Nido heavily. Like at least 50/50 time-share with McCann, for starters.

Nimmo is a very good player that fits this team's needs like a glove more than he is a star you'd be happy to see what it looks like in his mid 30s. A totally viable, better alternative, is to trade Baty+ for Brian Reynolds to manage CF, and give Correa 400M of Stevie's cash.

The most incredulous, unlikely Mets moment, for me, was seeing Murphy steal third on a walk in game 5 NLDS 2015. It was truly a 'did that really just happen?' kind of thing.

Quote with your favorite baseball moment of the 2010s, mine is finally seeing a Mets no-hitter.

Same 'ol Mets. Does Brodie realize or care that Thor and Matz and Lugo and everyone else is watching the GM trash their cohort and friend for just saying what the whole world knows about the way the Mets roll?

Brodie Van Wagenen said he was “surprised” and “disappointed” with Zack Wheeler’s comments yesterday, after the Mets “helped him parlay two good half-seasons over the last five into $118 million.”

Buster Posey at 34 is giving himself one helluva push into the HOF. 232 wRC+ through his first 82 PA, up to 54 fWAR (1.6 this year so far)

So rather than sign Justin Wilson or Derek Holland for 2 years/12M, we're going to trade Mark Vientos for the equivalent pre-arb talent aren't we?

Why do people care if deGrom "gets the win"? Do you also care what VCR's are running these days? Or why your MS-DOS doesn't seem to be responding quickly enough?

Low hanging fruit for adding velo in the finish to his delivery, not to mention addingsome strength to that frame. Low release height, hides the ball well. Thornton is my breakout pick so far, *love* this pick.

With the 159th pick, the Mets select lefty Zach Thornton from Grand Canyon University. 91 K to 18 walk ratio this year in 88 innings. The 21-year-old Ranked 142 on Prospect Live list.

Taijuan Walker had a deceptively low ERA last season, with mediocre peripherals...BUT very interesting pitch data, relative youth, and the potential to regain a tick further out from TJS. I say go get him, offer 3 yrs to keep the AAV down - something like 3/21?
