announced a new emergency loan system to support small firms through the COVID-19 pandemic with a 100% guarantee for smaller loans up to £50k. Pleased the voice of small business has been heard 💯
Retrospection through the loan charge is outrageous, and IR35 hasn’t been properly thought through. These are disincentives to going self-employed -

We know it’s easy to say, but self-employed, hang on in there - we’re working day and night to get you better support from the government right now.
Very welcome major package and very welcome that the Chancellor has said he is prepared to do everything necessary.
We will be working very closely with the Government to ensure the employment support package supports the self-employed.
It’s encouraging to see Government committing to a loan charge review - but telling sole traders they’ll have an update as late as November, with little time to settle-up, is unreasonable, especially in such an uncertain climate.
