@SurlySort @bruce_arthur @acoyne It’s destructive to both counties. The CUSMA trade agreement negotiated by Trump’s administration has worked just fine. Trump bragged about it. He is now violating his agreement, a treaty ratified by Congress. All his actions domestically and internationally are destructive.

@SurlySort @bruce_arthur @acoyne Trump is trying to screw countries around the world. He’s screwing his own people ! Americans pay the tariffs. It will cause inflation. Billionaires can profit from inflation. The tariffs (taxes) will finance tax cuts for those billionaires. It’s a nightmare for everyone else.

@AnaPoilievre @lenore_may STFU. Pierre the child is slipping into irrelevance. He’s never done one thing in his 20 years taking his taxpayer paycheck to benefit Canada or Canadians. Even NOW he’s undermining Canada! Carney the adult, guided the BOC (an independent Crown Corporation) monetary policy.

@shoe_magic @Thomasstjames3 @TristanSnell It’s a war started by one side. It’s Trump’s misguided, discredited, outdated economic malpractice. Tariffs on China makes sense . On Canada … It will hurt both sides. And it’s totally unnecessary.

@shoe_magic @Thomasstjames3 @TristanSnell It does move the needle. Canada is the biggest market for at least 20 States, a significant market for many more. Many States depend on raw materials from Canada to make industries function. Americans PAY the tariffs (taxes). It will spur inflation. Went up to 3.0 vs 1.8 here.

@SurlySort @bruce_arthur @acoyne Since there is still no tariffs actually enacted, just a series of ever changing schedules and “deadlines”, I’m wondering if this is a way of damaging the Canadian economy, without sustaining the domestic inflationary damage of tariffs (taxes) in the US. All to prep CUSMA talks.

@MarcNixon24 She’s an idiot . Let her get back to making deals for fake Tylenol for Albertans … STFU on current international affairs . Pathetic . Worst Premier in Canada … by far !

@Bmicc2 @OJoelsen If you are interested in natural resources from Greenland, make a trade deal and buy them. Invest in extraction. That’s a win - win. But become part of the US … be ruled by Musk and Trump? No. The big problem is that the world sees that Trump doesn’t live up to agreements.

@shoe_magic @Thomasstjames3 @TristanSnell There is no significant fentanyl or illegal humans coming from Canada. Less than 1% of what the US lets in ! It’s the job of the US to protect their border ! They can’t deal with under 1% on the biggest border in the world? What about the 99% ? Inflation is coming back. Enjoy.

@Thomasstjames3 @TristanSnell The threatened tariffs on our proven ally Canada, will bring back inflation with a vengeance . It will undermine national security and jeopardize an efficient trade relationship .

@RpsAgainstTrump Rule of law is going away. Protection against banks and financial institutions, insurance companies etc ripping you off, has been suspended. You’re on your own. This means the law won’t be there to protect you against scammers, conmen , fraudsters . Exactly WHO voted for THIS ?

@related2karma @dfrntdrmmr @BobRae48 His story on trade imbalance is fraudulent. Who is this “we” that is allegedly “losing” money? Private individuals and companies buy various goods, products and services from private entities in Canada voluntarily, by choice !Same in the opposite direction. He’s interfering .

@marmisto @Gray_Mackenzie I was born in Canada. I live here. I’ve traveled and worked around the world. Canada is not only viable, it’s the best country in the world. If YOU are struggling in Canada of all places, look in the mirror. It’s you. You’re the problem. Are you a viable person? Buck up Numpty .

@JenniferMacInn5 @deAdderCanada 2/The other media outlets base their “questions” on these dubious sources … and the negative narratives are created and invested in. They continue to drive these narratives even though they are clearly harmful in the context of fighting the existential threats ! Irresponsible !

@gilmcgowan Trump’s whole implication that a trade imbalance is unfair or necessarily a bad thing is fraudulent. The U.S. population and economy is roughly 9x bigger. Naturally they’ll need to buy more to service their economy than Canada needs. These are voluntary buys by private entities.

@BigSmartHandsom @LLynneIrwin @morgfair No hostile intent. Just making some distinctions from my point of view. I didn’t hear a response from Lynne. I’m guess he didn’t find it hostile. Who knows ? As far as hostility towards Trump and his tactics, intentions and actions … that’s a different matter .

@BigSmartHandsom @LLynneIrwin @morgfair I agree that Trump uses different numbers for the trade balance. But I don’t believe it’s that he “can’t get his facts straight”. He doesn’t care or attempt to be honest or accurate. He throws in numbers for affect. And his whole argument on trade and tariffs is fraudulent.
