So City have triggered Angeliño’s buy back clause and brought him back to make him the 3rd (4th if you include Delph) left back in the squad. Here’s a thread on what’s going on there.
Couple of takes from tonight:
- Rico is getting better. He looked really sharp again. He’s getting closer to being a lock on WC.
- Foden, however, looked off the pace. I wanted to take a punt on him with KDB out but £9.3m is steep.
Hot takes from Pep’s presser and the Foden/KDB news:
- Mahrez nailed
- Grealish needed from start
- Gundo back on the table
- Jesus/Torres start up front
Be really interesting to see how we lineup tomorrow and where Grealish plays if/when he comes on.
Few City thoughts:
Haaland starting is a coin flip but the fact he’s trained means he’s a keep and play for me. Returns likely off the bench and easy captain next week.
Feel like we shouldn’t captain unless confirmed in lineup though?
So given the facts:
- Mendy won’t be fit for start of season
- Angeliño is the new signing
- Zinchenko has been so effective when he’s played
I would (tentatively) say Zinchenko is a good option to start the season with.
Tell you what, the FPL community has completely changed from the template-driven early season spell. I’m seeing people transferring in players others are transferring out! Can’t tell who’s a good pick anymore! 🙈
Thoughts:
- KDB let loose with Bernardo back and Gundo deep. Well done owners/cappers 👏🏼
- Probs time to lose the defensive double up
- *Maybe* time to lose Gundo. Will pop up with odd goal at £5m but not playing where he was in Jan/Feb
- Foden has to play every fucking game
Otamendi and Fernandinho looked assured tonight. Interesting how Pep moved Otamendi to the right to maybe make him feel more comfortable. He also scored a disallowed goal.
My preference for City defenders:
1. Dias
2. Cancelo
3. Stones
Cancelo is worth the risk. Rotation might come for CBs soon but wouldn’t worry yet.
In my opinion best combo is one of Dias/Stones for safety and Cancelo for upside.
I think there’s a time for Alvarez in FPL and it’s when Haaland is injured.
He can play the role behind the striker but it’s not where he’s at his best.
If someone is going to suffer from Bernardo’s return, I suspect it might be him.
I was wrong on Alvarez.
There might be a debate on how effective he is in that role but he’s certainly effective for FPL points.
And according to Pep he’s now “undroppable”.
Big pressure on Jackson going into this game 😬

Did some number crunching and found a pretty good stat tonight.
Zinchenko’s average BPS in games he played 60+ mins in last season, adjusted for clean sheet points:
26.33!
Three red arrows in a row see me drop to 9k but I’ve finally achieved my first ever top 10k finish! 🙌🏼
Best ever rank, won most mini leagues and made a few quid along the way 🏆
The pandemic allowed more time and research than usual and it paid off. Most enjoyable season yet 🥰
With the Arsenal fixture still to be re-arranged; both City *and* the Premier League will want this re-arranged soon. This midweek or next weekend would be my guess.
Morning after and it still hurts. Gonna take a while to get over that one.
Congratulations to Chelsea fans; thoroughly deserved 👏🏼
Pep messed about (again 🤦🏼♂️) and then it’s difficult at 1-0 down, especially with KDB going off.
We’ll be back 👊🏼💙
Big game for City tonight.
Fans growing a little impatient with Pep seemingly freezing out Foden and leaving Cancelo/Walker on the bench without explanation.
Leicester have shown they bust every stat going but this one has made me captain Mané over Vardy.
xGC away from home:
2nd - Brighton - 13.80
20th - Everton - 6.04
Sterling is playing as the
#9
in this second half against West Ham and has scored already. Something to keep an eye on with Agüero and Jesus back late.
Thoughts on City’s FPL assets today are the same as always: we create a *lot* of chances. Sometimes we just miss all of them.
Your City players might not play and even when they do they might not be involved, but there’s one guy who nearly always is: KDB.
How we line-up for our final Asia tour friendly against Yokohama…📋
XI | Bravo, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Silva (C), Bernardo, Sane, Sterling.

Not much to say about that City performance that we didn’t know already:
- KDB the
#1
option 🐐
- Mahrez & Sterling look sharp 🇩🇿 🏴
- Jesus struggling ☹️
🏆 Congratulations to our Manchester City followers & our Correspondent
@FPLPringle
, you are, finally (about fucking time 🤣), European Champions AND Treble Winners. Huge congratulations 👏
Pep Guardiola: "Nobody talks about Nathan [Ake] and right now he’s playing beyond our expectations as a left-back. As a defender, how good he defends, all the actions with the ball are clever..."
Foden is still a good pick. Think he’ll be back in the week but we know how quickly 1 game out can turn into 2/3 in FPL. Wouldn’t be against using him as a cash cow for a move to Kane for a couple of weeks if we got some injury news.
Chelsea have some sneaky options don’t they.
Luiz - £5.5m
Pedro - £6.5m
Barkley - £6m
All started both pre-season game. Tomorrow v Arsenal and Sunday v City will see if any of these are viable.
Pep Guardiola: "I have a few ideas, thoughts - ridiculous ones - against [Manchester] United but I still didn't watch the last games. I have to see the way they play at home and if they change something... That is why I don’t have a clear line-up against United." [via

Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, confirmed and here we go! The agreement is set to be completed after further talks. €115m to Inter and no players included. Paperworks to be signed once details are fixed. 🔵🤝

Lukaku will sign a long-term contract for €12m + add ons. 🇧🇪

I’d sell Sterling if I had him. Out of form, looking likely to be rotated against Southampton and his next 4 home fixtures (where he’s usually strong) are Liverpool, Wolves, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Hazard a miles better option imo.
I can totally understand people going without Salah; I’m still probably going to take him out for GW2.
But his consistency at home to non-top 6 teams is insane. I couldn’t see past him for captaincy this week.
